Giottos MM 9180 User Reviews
“This is the nicest monopod I have used. Very stable..used with a Nikon 300mm 2.8 plus 1.7X .Really like the rubber foot on the bottom. Extends to almost 70 inches. High quality twist lock leg locks. The interchangeable thread is changed by unscrewing the head and reversing it and not an all in one like the Bogens. I find this style easier to use and kinder to tripod feet. The Bogen style is guaranteed to hack up your lens tripod foot.” – By Steve
Extra height worth it
“Having tried a tripod in tight spaces to get good video over heads, the extra few inches plus my Bogen 3437 gets up and over just about the tallest person standing. The case is nice for carrying, but the small length collapsed is easy to use with the camara bag straps. Knurled adjusters are easy to use, and sections elongate and collapse with ease. Flip thread head is nice touch for use with heads or camaras. Also excellent for event shoots with my DSLR as well.” – By Snowmane
Excellent for my needs
“I took this on vacation with me to Costa Rica to use with my Canon 40D with 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM lens and practically solved most of the movement artifacts that would’ve occured just by handholding my shots. Not as stable as a tripod but almost!” – By Yves
Quality monopod at a reasonable cost
“This monopod is portable, sturdy and well built. It expands and contract quickly. I use it for sports photography with my 70-200mm f2.8 lens for support and it does its job perfectly.” – By Canon 4 ever
Perfect and a Must Have
“Don’t waist your time on any other brand. Buy this one and you won’t be disappointed. I use it to custom mount two canon cameras at the same time from a bracket that I had custom fabricated to meet my needs. There is plenty of support here. Great buy!” – By Sportrix
Great for tall photographers
“I am an amateur photographer that specializes in streetscape photography. I needed something that would be easy to transport but sturdy. The Giottos is very sturdy and quick to set up. It is a bit heavy, but I really needed the extra length. I am 6′ tall and wanted something that would extend to my eye level. This is great for tall photographers. I would definitely recommend this product!” – By JM Photo
“Works well with my heavy 70-200MM nikon . If you are over 6`tall the 9180 is the one to get. I shoot mostly sports and it takes a good beating. The second you take it out of the box you can tell this is a quality built product.” – By FTE JR.
Probably the best monopod for the money
“This is not absolutely the lightest monopod around, but for the support it gives and the quality of construction you can’t go wrong! I use it for both my 6 x 7 medium format camera and my Nikon D700 camera with battery pack and 24-70 f/2.8 Nikon zoom lens… PERFECT! Make sure you get a good head for it too, unless all your shots are of the landscape “horizontal” variety!” – By Joseph A. Nowak
The “Casual Tripod” for travel
“This monopod is very smooth adjusting and long for my 6′ 2″ higher eye level with lots to spare. Like the wide rubber foot and monopod swings better when walking due to light weight. Other commenter suggested using a ball head. With the Manfrotto 234RC Monopod Head Quick Release ($40?) camera will point any direction fast with quick release. Leave the quick release plate on the camera for tripod quick release that sits on ball head..” – By B. Speer
