Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd Reviews

ComputerActive reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“Good: Solid, user-friendly features, 18x image-stabilised optical zoom, Bad: Noticeably plastic body construction, Travel of lens throughout range could be smoother. Overall: A family-friendly super zoom perfect for photographing school sports days and candid moments”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PhotographyBlog reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“Noise is well controlled up to ISO 800, becoming readily apparent at ISO 1600. From then on in you’re losing noise but successively detail with it at ISO 3200 and ISO 6400, the latter looking more like a stills ‘grab’ from a video camera feed.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

CNETUK reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“With crisp images, lots of features and accessible controls, the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd ticks all the boxes…the S8100fd is also more stylish than most superzooms and in fact has very little to count against it.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

DCR compares the Fujifilm S8100fd vs. Olympus SP-570 UZ and writes;
“Cleaner shots from the Fuji, combined with more consistent AF lock in low light than the SP-570 provides, make the FinePix the clear winner for ultrazoom users needing a fairly competent low-light camera, and this distinction alone is enough to pull the S8100fd into the lead where image quality is concerned.”
Rating: N/A

DCR reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
Pros: Shooting speed and responsiveness generally excellent, Consistent auto focus across the lens range, Reasonably flexible auto white balance, Huge zoom range; fast apertures throughout. Cons: Slow flash recycle times, Continuous shooting speed not impressive, High-contrast shots can look compressed, Some lens faults to watch out for ”
Rating: N/A

ePhotozine reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd seems to control noise nicely until ISO400 where it starts to struggle. There’s some colour displacement at ISO200 on the grey area, but it’s not upsetting to the image. At ISO400, colours are starting to strengthen and detail starts to dissipate ”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCWorld reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“the S8100fd performed well in our lab tests, where our judges saw good color reproduction. Exposure accuracy was exceptional in natural light, but could have been better using the built-in flash. Images weren’t as sharp as you might expect from the camera’s 10-megapixel sensor. ”
Rating: ★★★★☆

InfoSync reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“There’s a small amount of blue-fringing, but neither instance is enough for concern. The second test is particularly impressive, as most compacts tend to have noticeable aberration and diffraction at wide angles, whereas the Fujifilm S8100fd rendered took a relatively clean image. ”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCW reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“Pros: Powerful zoom lens; image stabilisation; build quality; image quality; excellent low-light performance. Cons: Low-resolution viewfinder; fiddly controls; no zoom during movie recording. Overall: A pricey but impressive camera capable of turning difficult subjects into stunning photographs ”
Rating: ★★★½☆

TrustedReviews reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“Image quality is hit-or-miss, with horrible high ISO images and some aggressive sharpening. At lower ISOs images are better, but I find the majority of images too digital looking, lacking the finesse of some other models. ”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Pocket-Lint reviews the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd and writes;
“Image quality on the whole is ok and certainly this is a super zoom in a compact form giving you a wide range of options from the one camera.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd Press Release

Fujifilm UK today announced the launch of the long zoom, SLR-styled FinePix S8100fddigital camera, which combines user-friendliness with long-zoom versatility and high speed shooting modes that are rarely found in non-professional models.

Continuing on the success of the FinePix S8000fd, the 10 Megapixel FinePix S8100fd integrates a Fujinon 18x wide angle optical zoom fixed lens (27mm-486mm equivalent), letting the user achieve greater range than ever before and offers everything from true wide angle to extreme telephoto in a single compact unit. The sealed, fixed-lens system prevents dust contamination and eliminates the need for additional zoom or wide angle lenses, making it an easy-to-use, affordable alternative to the complex D-SLR system.
