This camera is brilliant for sterter and amature photographers. Its fairly easy to use and has lots of brilliant features. The camera needs to be played with to gain a better use of it. The zoom is brilliant, the quality is quite good, its fairly small and compact and relatively cheap for the camera you get. Id say buy it, ive had it for less than a year, and along with photoshop, ive had a brilliant time taking and editing photos. I am only 15 but have taken brilliant photos and have my own website. Inspirational eh :P

Positives - Good picture quality in good lighted
conditions.

Amazing macro mode for camera of this price :O.

Can almost keep up with entry level DSLR's

Very good zoom

Light

Small

Negatives - Low light conditions can cause noisy images.

Takes a long time to take the picture (AF etc)

Conclusion - Had it for a year , served me well as someone who wanted to get into photography. Much better than a point and shoot compact. Was good for nature photography and stuff :P.

The camera is cheap for a camera with a 12x optical zoom. It takes AA batteries which is nice while travelling. Macro takes very nice pictures, but in full optical zoom the image quality is less then optimal. You can set shutter and exposure manually.

Performance in low light is poor even with the flash on, unless the subject is very close to the cameras flash. Focus seems sluggish and the targeting is unreliable. Not for fast photography. The lack of manual focus is it's greatest downfall. Even with iso400 the image is very grainy. Full automode insists of using very high iso making the images extremely grainy. Not recommended for video because of poor image and sound quality.

It takes a bit of time to set all the settings for it to take adequate quality images. Camera might seem better on paper, but there is not much competition at the low price. Consider however if you truly need a 12x zoom instead of better quality lens and low light performance. Try before you buy.
