Epson Stylus Photo RX600 Reviews

Trustedreviews reviews the Epson Stylus Photo RX600 and writes;
“Scanning quality is of a similarly high standard, and happily much faster. Producing 2500 x 3400 resolution 7MB scan took less than 20 seconds and as a guide, when scanning its own printout of the Buffy image, those telltale red veins still remain. Photographers will also be happy to know that negatives come out extremely well and though I wasn’t able to test its ability to scan from slides, due to not owning any, its overall performance leads me to believe results will be extremely positive.”

Epson RX600 – A standalone photo lab in a box
“I have had my RX600 for a couple of weeks now, and think it is amazing. WITHOUT USING A COMPUTER, you can copy B&W or color documents that look fine and come out pretty soon after you push the button. However, when printing PHOTOS, this thing is LOTS better than Kodak’s printing system in drug stores. It reads virtually any memory card. It reads cameras, CD’s, and hard drives via USB on front. It scans color slides, negatives, B&W negatives and makes FANTASTICALLY RICH prints from them. With the tilting color LCD on the front you can crop and zoom photos before printing. It can scan or copy to CD’s, memory cards, USB flash, etc, using its front USB port. Also has a Bluetooth adapter option that plugs in the same USB port.” – by A Customer

Very nice unit
“This Epson RX600’s software is a dream. They separated everything! Just want to print occasional black and white like me, driver is just 8mb. Want everything and do photo touchups and crazy things and photo albums and scan (like my wife) – just put in the cd and add what you want one app at a time. That’s why we went with this printer and returned the HP. Also, one more plus is that the RX600 scans old negatives and can print them perfectly or digitize them for you forever – the HP can’t. I LOVE this feature (and yes, it’s a combo of mechanical and software differences that achieve this, I dare you to try on another machine).” – by Tony Jannotta

Quality all in one device
“It’s photocopier – plain and simple. With or without the PC. Color, BW, enlarge, reduce, zoom – all the features of regular coper. Digital camera support – memory card or USB cable. Images can be viewed and printed directly – again, without a PC, Ease of setup. Very easy to follow directions. Step by step. It works as advertised with no installation hassles (WinXP), Scanner & a printer. Attach to the PC via USB – scan to image, scan to application. Very easy to use, and again, it does everything it says it should do” – by 6229er

Was only in market for new scanner
“I went to CompUSA with the RX500 in mind, and there happened to be an EPSON rep. there, coincidentally in the process of selling an RX600 to someone else. Well, this person was ranting and raving over how great this printer was, and my wife and I just happened to overhear it. You married guys know how important it is to have the wife’s blessing, don’t you? Well, a couple of photo demonstrations and some copy tests, and we were walking out the door with an RX600 of our own!” – by A Customer

Can’t Be Beat
“I bought this Epson a few months ago. I own the Epson 785EPX and get great quality prints from it, but was thrilled at the idea of scanning old pictures, negatives and slides. I have played around with all of the above features and am very excited about the quality I am getting… The scan quality is excellent with no grainy look. I am amazed at how quiet the unit is as well. This was not a feature I cared about, but was pleasantly surprised by the difference. I even have to go up to the printer at times to see/feel if it is printing. I highly recommend this product.” – by Trish “Digital Mania”

Excellent at everything it claims it can do; doesn’t fax
“The RX600 has a small color display that makes it easier to print directly from a camera memory card, and you can see more options at once for copying and other things than on the tiny b/w LCD display of the RX500…” – by RP “robbsterino”

Fantastic printer/scanner, twitchy Mac software
“Overall, this is a great all-in-one. The scans are excellent, the scan speed is quick, and the software is good, although the default to Auto mode is really irritating until you manage to switch it off. The print quality is what I come to expect from Epson. This printer cleans itself less frequently than my old Stylus Photo 780, and is quieter, more stable, better in general.” – by Lavode

(updated at top added in July/2007) – Pleasantly surprised
“Setup was fast and pleasant – and when I had a question, I had the tech help on the line within a minute or less. Printed out a picture on plain ol’ everyday paper (HP/92 brightness), expecting to just toss it out as a test. But it was beautiful enough to keep – couldn’t believe it. It was fast and easy too. I can only imagine how nice pictures will be on photo paper – and I’ll be able to easily take old family negatives or old snapshots and make fresh looking photos – it has a simple auto restore funtion. “ – by More0ver

Epson RS 600 LCD gone bad
“I’ve owned my Epson RS 600 printer for a year and a half. The LCD went out and it will cost $200 to $300 to fix it while a newer model is on sale for $150. Epson customer support was of no help to me. All they would say was that the guarantee was up and I should go to a service center. The service center was so familiar with the problem that they recommended that I throw the printer away and buy another manufacturer’s printer.” – by Layla
