Epson Stylus Photo R300 Reviews

Trustedreviews reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R300 and writes;
“Print quality is excellent. The R300 produces strong black text and vibrant, dense colour graphics, but it really comes into its own on photographs, as you might expect. Here colours are natural and smooth, with graduated areas particularly clean..”

CNET reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R300 and writes;
“With regard to print quality, we gave the R300 mixed reviews. When using Epson’s inkjet paper, the monochrome text came out very dark to the point of looking oversaturated with ink. Tiny fonts, while legible, appeared spotty and saw-toothed. Colour graphics, on the whole, looked fair, with the printer handling colour matching quite well. The blended and shaded areas in our test document (both colour and black and white), however, were visibly pixellated and not very smooth. But on photos, the R300 really shone. Our complex, high-resolution test document looked extremely crisp — there was only the faintest hint of dithering visible in the background, and skin tones looked smooth and balanced.”

Epson Stylus Photo R300 User Reviews

Very Nice
“I was looking for an inexpensive, high-quality printer that was capable of printing more than just the normal 4×6 up to letter size prints and so decided to see what was out there before shelling out the money to buy a wide-format printer such as the Canon 9900. The R300 fit this bill….one thing that immediately impressed me about this printer was the ability to handle panoramic prints up to 44″. “ – by captop

great printer…a little slower than I would like
“I’ve had the R300 for 3 or 4 months now. Initially I almost returned it because the photos came out terrible. They were blotched and blurry. It turns out that I had to make adjustments with the print settings, namely the paper type. After having the correct settings, I got great pictures. Unlike other reviewers, I my experience with the ink cartidges has not been bad. Perhaps I just don’t print as many photos or very large photos.” – by Living in Budapest

Excellent print quality for occasional prints
“I have been testing the output using pictures from my Nikon D70 camera. So far I have been very pleased with the quiet speed of the printer.I am only using generic Kodak photo paper as I have not been able to find the Epson paper to test with. The colors are well defined, no bleeding and no banding as some have reported. I have just finished two 8×10 prints and they are both quality prints. The quality is very good using Adobe Elements 3 software. I think this will be a great printer for those occasional photos that I want to give right away.” – by Brian Shannon

Fantastic printer at an amazing price
“The prints themselves are fantastic. Perfect. In fact if you buy some diamond (silver) CD-Rs and use this printer then it looks completely pro – you can’t tell it’s ‘homemade’. Aside from the tray getting stuck occasionally and the usual inkjet printer gripe – i.e. why do they take 30 seconds to faff about before printing I really like this unit. For the price it’s hard to beat it especially if you’re after one-off pro-quality CD/DVD printing.” – by Vynny

Epson R300
“I do like this printer and I have a Mac running OSX 10.3. The R300 just turns out superior prints–as simple as that. I didn’t have any problems installing it and it’s worked like a dream from day one. The blacks are black–and the colors great. I also use Adobe Photoshop and the colors are pretty true. I did purchase the Blue Tooth dongle for wireless printing but for photos that’s way too slow. I have not tried other types of wireless printing. This is just a great overall printer–.” – by Deb

A pretty good machine
“Here’s a purchase I don’t regret. The output quality is pretty good; the driver has many useful features, like an automaic print preview (checkbox in the Printing Preferences, Main tab) and a neat multi-page option (Printing Preferences, Page Layout tab) that shrinks the output and puts 2 (or more) pages per sheet. I’ve had this feature in other printers and I find it handy..” – by Nico Lomuto

Great product for at home pictures
“The Photo R300 is easy to use, provides wonderful pictures, and can be used for decent text, too. If you develop technical problems, technical support is quick to provide complete instructions to help you rectify them. The machine is very convenient, allowing you to print directly from your computer or from a variety of photo chip sizes. It is also easy to figure out how to add or subtract photo info, change the size of your pics, etc.” – by Crystal C. Murray

Happy with this one
“First off, this printer is targeted at a specific type of use. It is a photo printer, and it produces excellent photos and does real well printing CDs. But it is not a ‘bulk job’ printer. It is a ‘home’ printer for casual use, not an office workhorse.. Photo prints are nothing short of amazing. Using premium Epson 4×6 borderless, pictures come out vibrant, with no sign of smearing at edges or anywhere. I had no problem with feeding photo paper with several sheets loaded at once.” – by Igor Obraztsov

Nice Personal Photo Printer
“I’ve had this printer for 3 years and it prints pictures beatifully. I use it at home for my personal picture printing only. The color is just as it appears on the computer screen and images are vivid. I have used replacement cartridges and have only had trouble with the black ink. The ink does run out quickly as the cartridges are small but the compatible ones have worked well except for the black. I have not had trouble with paper feeding and use several sheets at a time. One will need to experiment with the settings for different computers but the end results are georgeous…” – by H. Ongaro

Great but cranky
“This printer is teriffic for labeling CD/DVD and has made my LightScribe obsolete because of its ability to print in color. I am able to print as many pictures as I like or am able to put on the disc and then title it in any color I desire. It is sometimes cranky about pulling the tray in to complete the printing cycle but with a slight assist it will usually draw the tray into the machine…” – by Andy Carr
