Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Reviews

Photoreview reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 and writes;
“Full colour image files that were converted for B&W printing using the channel mixing method we outlined in the last issue gave us some spectacularly good monochrome prints, proving that the R2400 with the K3 ink set will satisfy the most demanding of users. It also delivered outstanding colour prints on both glossy and matte papers. Inspecting prints under high magnification revealed superb detail, coupled with excellent half-toning and colour smoothing.”

Shutterbug reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 and writes;
“the exceptional quality results were not limited to the more expensive papers. Even the very modest Epson Heavyweight Matte Paper reproduces a level of print quality with excellent tonal separation and detail definition, with just a little less of a D-max black density. With the resin-type Premium Epson papers like Luster, the maximum density is close to that of the best fine art papers, producing brilliant results with punchy, dramatic images.”

Photo-i reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 and writes;
“In print quality terms, the R2400 has produced the best prints I have seen from any inkjet printer. The colours are vibrant and jump off the page. The glossy media is still not there, especially when you compare it to a Canon glossy print, but then not everyone wants a high gloss print (after all they also show up fingerprints and mark easily). I love the Velvet Fine Art media, these prints have a real feeling of quality – I would be more than happy to sell limited edition prints made with this media.”

Trustedreviews reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 and writes;
“Colour quality from this printer was a bit variable. We started with some black text, not the main task for a printer like this, but something it might still get called on to produce. Black text came through dark grey, even though the printer offers a full photo black. When we printed the text and graphics page, again a plain paper print, the colours came out pale and washed-out, too. Switching to glossy photo paper for our colour photo print produced an excellent result, with a very natural rendition; plenty of foreground detail and a beautifully smooth gradation from light to dark blue in the sky. Good shadow detail, too.”

CNET reviews the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 and writes;
“Both color and monochrome prints render beautifully. There’s a slight but visible hue difference between the R1800′s reds and the R2400′s, thanks to the R1800′s dedicated red ink tank, but otherwise the R2400 seems to be able to faithfully reproduce a similarly broad range of hues and tones. The gloss deficit is gone–blacks remain glossy on glossy papers–and color fidelity across paper types is excellent for all but the lightest shades (which are affected more by the color of the paper). It delivers very good tonal separation in areas of subtle variation, such as wet sand. Colors look vivid and punchy when appropriate, while skin tones and memory colors–sky and grass, for example–appear fairly accurate.”

Epson Stylus Photo R2400 User Reviews

Great Printer- but make sure you use it frequently
“The output quality from this semi-pro printer easily beats lab prints. Beautiful. The major downside to this printer (and most printers with built in print heads) is that you MUST use it weekly to prevent clogging. Especially if you live in a dry climate. Expect to spend serious money on ink to keep this printer running in top form.” – by Richard Green

Great Epson printer
“I’ve owned two other Epson printers and I like this one the best so far. It was truly plug and play with no problems. The color photos were beautiful – much better callibration than the R800. I haven’t tried printing black & white photos yet but looking forward to that. “ – by Cheryl A. Wise

amazing prints
“This printer is simply amazing. Assuming you have paper profiles, accurate monitor calibration and know how to set up photoshop’s printer dialogue, you will have faultless prints. Truly impressive. And the Advanced b/w settings make for wonderful black and white prints. If the print speed were a bit better, and the cost to print was more reasonable, I’d give the R2400 5 stars. If your output warrants it, for an almost immediately better cost/print go for the 3800. “ – by C. Gorman

Epson R2400 right out of the box
“As a long time Epson user, I am quite pleased with the R2400 so far. Just recently finishing some work on the 1280 (which the R2400 replaces) I am very glad that the new printer produced very well-matched results right out of the box.
The printer arrived in good physical condition and has worked properly from the start. No problems loading the inks and initializing the cartridges. There were no problems loading the drivers or the special profiles. The test page happened as it should on the first try. “

Provides you a lot of control over printing – at a cost
“I purchased the Epson R2400 specifically for photographic production. I was looking for print size (the R2400 prints up to 13″ wide by 44″ long), pigment inks for archival longetivity, and deep, accurate reproduction of both color and B&W photography.” – by Richard Snouffer

Epson Stylus R2400
“This is a fantastic printer! The image quality is fantastic and the archival inks are great. I was worried when I saw how little the ink cartridges were, but I have printed some large projects and haven’t had to replace them yet.” – by C. Wood

The best printer yet
“I use the printer to create bird photo greeting cards so the archival ink is a must. The R2400 supports glossy, matte, luster, fine art or posterboard prints in clear, consice colors. Printing is fast, and the 8-color ink set seems to outlast previous cartridges plus having the advantage of replacing a single color. It is also superior for black and white art prints with its Advanced Black-and-White Photo Mode, and it also allows use of border-free 13″ x 44″ roll paper.” – by S. Barrett
