Epson Stylus NX400 Reviews
About.com reviews the Epson Stylus NX400 and writes;
“I thought the printer worked better for photos than graphics, since Epson’s DURABrite ink comes out smudge-free. A colorful 4×6 photo came out in 1:37 (at regular photo quality). I used the sample Epson Semi-Gloss Paper and was very impressed with the quality of the print. Colors were true and rich; and even the smallest details on the print were clear and sharp. Prints can be made from memory cards and photos can be edited using the printer’s 2.5-inch tilt LCD (Auto Photo Correction helps automatically correct poorly exposed images and enhance skin tones).”
Macworld reviews the Epson Stylus NX400 and writes;
“The scanner bed is tilted slightly forward, making the positioning of items to be scanned on the glass a little difficult, as sheets of paper slid forward. Once everything was positioned correctly, our test scans from the NX400 were of Very Good quality. A scan of our 8-by-10-inch picnic test photo took 1 minute and 24 seconds; like the print output, it was a little too red, but was in the right ballpark. The scan captured a good amount of detail, even in shadows and highlight areas. A scan of our resolution test chart also showed a high level of detail captured in the file.”
Pcmag reviews the Epson Stylus NX400 and writes;
“The NX400′s photo quality gave me a second pleasant surprise. Not only is it among the best for any consumer-oriented ink jet, it’s a match for photocentric ink jets that cost $500 and up. Most ink jets today offer photos as good as you would expect from a local drugstore or photo shop. The NX400′s photos are much closer to what a serious photographer would demand from a professional photo lab. Even the monochrome output in my tests was notable for its smooth gradients and lack of any visible tint over the entire range from white to black.”
Pcworld reviews the Epson Stylus NX400 and writes;
“The Stylus NX400′s performance in our speed and output quality tests varied. Text printed on plain paper came out very slowly–5 pages per minute (ppm). On the other hand, graphics pages came out as quickly as 3.4 ppm. On plain paper, text looked a little fuzzy, but nicely black. Graphics looked grainy, but nicely colored. Printed on Epson’s own photo paper, the same graphics looked smoother. A routine copy of a plain-text document looked fine, but color scans looked dark and, in some samples, a little rough.”

Instant Apple or PC printing. scanning, & copying, Cheap
“Print quality for text is pretty good. Certainly good enough for everyday use. And it is pretty fast. On a good quality paper the characters are very sharp, but on cheapo thin paper characters can be a little fuzzy at the edges. Still readable, just not as crisp as on good paper. Stick to good paper for printing text. I actually tried several papers from HP and Great White and the best text results came with from HP 24lb premium inkjet paper. But I settled on HP 22 lb multiuse paper because it is just a whole lot cheaper and still works very well.” – by HDS “stewcanoe”
“This is my third Epson Printer. I love the scanners on these printers. I have scanned old photos into Ancestry.com to share with relatives. They sometimes turn out better than the originals. One thing about Epson printers, the ink jets clog if you don’t follow the instructions exactly.” – by Eunice
Good printer for little money
“I can say it makes excellent copies, clear type and true color reproduction. It’s supposed to do photos also, but I haven’t tried that yet. I was pleasantly surprised to discover it has an Energy Star rating, which wasn’t in the product discription. It’s noisy–kind of startled me the first time I used it–but I can live with that. I definitely would recommend this reasonably-priced printer to anyone who doesn’t need complicated features or high-speed printing. “ – by Janice E. Armstrong
“I have used all the functions of this copier, and am very satisfied. The scanner is excellent. I have been scanning in a lot of my old 4×6 photos. The quality is surprisingly good. The copier is perfect for single sheets, although without an ADF, it’s not realistic to use for a lot of copying. Very affordable, and Ink supplied has been sufficient for me for quite a while, but I am not a heavy printer.” – by Sam Pen
Excellent Printer, great price
“This product is awesome. It prints quickly and I love the viewing screen. It prints high quality photos, too. The scanner works great; I wish it came with software (I’m using OCR right now)but other than that, it is an awesome product. Highly recommend! “ – by G. Musa
“This is a great printer! I love it! It is a tad noisy, which is why I rated 4 stars instead of 5, but I can live w/that. Pictures are perfect and are dry immediately. Not sure about it’s ink consumption cuz I printed soooooo many pictures initially that I used entire set of color cartridges. “ – by Terrificspot
Good basic printing and scanning – Excellent interface
“Separate settings for printed material, magazine/newspaper art, photos, and documents round out a very intuitive package. I did not install the accompanying image editing software. The fact that I was given the choice was a pleasant surprise…” – by Spooky Blue
Great deal, great performance, great printer
“This is my third Epson printer. All have served me very well with excellent results. Printed pages are crisp, even in the quickest print setting. Borderless photos are as good as what you get from a photo lab and maybe better if you spend a minute enhancing the pic. “ – by Roland A. Brawner
Epson 3 in one printer, copier, scanner
“I got to do some test prints at the store before I bought it, and the image quality is far better than many other printers at and above this price range. I haven’t really had to print any images at home, but the prints really are quality.” – by Lost in New York
Epson 3 in one printer, copier, scanner
“We have not used the new Epson a great deal. However, we have found it to be quite simple to use and produces good guality photos and text. The scanner function is also very good. It woorks well with Vista as stated in the specks. All in all we are quite pleased.” – by Kay Cotton
