no model will ever GET any experience if she never signs a release… i’ve probably signed at least 1500 of them… am i screwed? hellz no… read what you sign

keep in mind that with a lot of these talent releases, you may also need additional releases such as property releases, 2257s, permission for web distribution, identity verification forms, contracts…

Beyond understanding how to read it, it’s also important to understand why and when do we need the model release form .
I just finished my own research on the topic, and from what i understand, by law, we are only required to use it when the photo intended for commercial use, but to be on the safe side, it is recommended to always sign one. it’s a waiver from future “troubles”.
there is the short standard version for the form (as published here : model release explained ), but sometimes you will need something more specific to the task, and should change it to cover the occasion .
