Photo Competition: Leica Oskar Barnack Award

Leica Oskar Barnack Award International Photo Competition is to a memorial to Oskar Barnack (1879–1936), the inventor of the Leica. Professional photographers are invited to submit their photos online starts on January 15 2011 to March 1 2011 t www.leica-oskar-barnack-preis.de.

The winner will receive a Leica M9 camera and a lens in addition to a cash prize of 5,000 euros. Carl Zeiss Photo Contest: Light is my Language

Photographers are invited to enter their pictures and shows how they interpret “The language of light.” You can use a DSLR or even a camera phone as long as it uses a ZEISS lens.

To participate, upload your best photo under the theme “Light is my language” to the official Carl Zeiss Group on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/groups/carlzeisslenses) and tag it with ZEISSContest2010. Photos can be submitted until 16 January. 10 Best photos will be selected by jury. The Flickr community will then select the three best photos from the 10 selected by the jury using the add to favorites function.

First place winner will win choice of ZEISS SLR lens. Second place will get a Nokia N8 smart phone. And third place winner will receive a Sony DSC-TX9 compact camera with ZEISS optics.

Photo Award – Images to Stop Tuberculosis

The Stop TB Partnership has launched the 2010 Images to Stop Tuberculosis Photo Award competition. The award, which has the goal of promoting creation of outstanding photos depicting prevention and treatment of tuberculosis (TB), is sponsored by the Lilly MDR-TB Partnership.

Photographers are invited to submit their work for consideration. An international jury of photography experts and representatives from UN and other partner organizations and chaired by internationally renowned photojournalist Gary Knight will select the winning photographer. The winner will receive US$ 5000 in prize money and a US$ 5000 grant to produce photo reportage about TB, a disease that takes the lives of nearly two million people each year.
