Expect Sony DSLR in Summer 2006

Macworld reported that according to Yutaka Nakagawa, an executive vice president of Sony and president of its digital imaging business group, Sony first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera will be available in the summer 2006 in Japan, and soon after in other markets. Moreover Yutaka Nakagawa is expecting Sony to achieve a market share of around 20% of the DSLR.

Criticism to Photographer in China

A photographer in China has got a lot of criticism after taking pictures of a man falling off a bicycle for Beijing Youth Daily. The photographer, Liu Tao was accused accused of lying in wait to take his pictures instead of warning people of the danger.

But Liu defended himself, saying: “I just knew that the city government has paved the pit, and without my pictures, the pit would not be noticed by the government, and there would perhaps be more people falling over.”

ZEISS Lenses are Available for Nikon F Mount

Carl Zeiss have announced a new range of interchangeable lenses for Nikon SLR cameras, both analog and digital. The first ZF lens will be the Planar T* 1,4/50 ZF, which, in its Contax RTS version. The second one will be Planar T* 1,4/85 ZF, which in its Contax RTS version became known as a great portrait lens. Both lenses will be available in Spring 2006

Olympus E-series Lenses Firmware Update

Olympus has announced the release of the latest firmware for certain Olympus E-series lenses.
Firmware updates are resolve problems with the following lenses:

ZUIKO DIGITAL 40mm-150mm F3.5-4.5, Tele Converter EC-14 and Extension Tube EX-25

- Lens data has been corrected to fix problems occurring under certain circumstances when used with the E-300.
- Lenses with the EC-14 are sometimes not recognized when attached to the camera. This has been corrected.
- Lenses with the EX-25 are sometimes not recognized when attached to the camera. This has been corrected.

ZUIKO DIGITAL 50mm-200mm F2.8-3.5 and 14mm-54mm F2.8-3.5

- Improves exposure precision comparable to a full-open aperture setting.

ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 35-100mm F2.0 and 35mm F3.5 Macro

- The aperture operation is steadier.

Vosonic has recently announced firmware update version 0A-1.2.3 for MODEL : VP6230/ VP6310 / VP6210 / VP6300

Snap and Send Digital Camera

Stuart Calvey, a 22-year-old industrial design student at the University of NSW - Australia, has invented Snap+Send Postcard, which is actually a disposable digital camera, is so light and inexpensive it can be sent in the mail. The Digital Postcards will have built-in flat screens that can play a slide show of photos taken by the sender.

Calvey predicts that his invention will be so popular with tourists and backpackers. “You would buy it at a newsagent or photo developer, take a few shots and, once it’s full, you stick a stamp on it, address it and put it in the postbox,” Calvey says.
