Casio has posted firmware version 1.01 for the Casio Exilim EX-S500.
The update will fix the problem that caused the wrong white balance setting to be registered when saving a user set up and also it will fix the problem that caused occasional distortion in the upper part of a snapshot during movie recording

What has been changed in version 1.2.3 of the firmware?

With the version 1.2.2 firmware, pressing the DISPLAY button right after shooting images resulted in an abnormal display and the camera would freeze. Images are not lost when this occurs. Also, removing and then reloading the battery restores the camera to normal operation. This version 1.2.3 firmware incorporates fixes for the issue described above

This firmware update applies to cameras with firmware version up to 1.2.2 installed. If your camera’s firmware is already version 1.2.3, it is not necessary to perform this update.

- The shutter releases immediately with self-timer photography using the remote control. Be aware that the 2-second shutter-release delay will no longer be possible with self-timer photography using the remote control.

- The self-timer can now be used with Fireworks show, Museum, and Sports Scene modes.
