Sony CyberShot DSC-W70 – Review @ DigitalCameraReview
DigitalCameraReview have recently published a review of the Sony CyberShot DSC-W70, a 7.20 megapixel CCD sensor point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 38 – 114mm ), and 2.5″ LCD screen display.

“The W70 demonstrated very good image quality. I was lucky enough to be able to take a stroll around the University of Notre Dame campus on a beautiful spring day with the camera. It handled a wide variety of lighting conditions very well — sunlight filtering through leaves, shadowy entrances to various buildings, and long shots with a lot of blue sky.
The camera’s automatic white balance handled mixed lighting very well. Color representation was also good. Reds were a bit oversaturated, in my opinion, but skin tones were not too ruddy. The flash did a good job of illuminating things indoors. The claimed flash range of almost 14 feet was demonstrated well.”

Sony CyberShot DSC-W50 – Review @ ImagingResource
ImagingResource have reviewed the Sony CyberShot DSC-W50, a 6.0 megapixel (CCD) point-and-shoot digital camera with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens (38 – 114mm equivalent), and a 2.5″ LCD Screen.

“Exposure remains under automatic control, something novices will appreciate, and its seven preprogrammed scene modes help with more tricky subjects. It’s a very responsive camera, with low shutter lag in daylight conditions, and excellent shot to shot speeds. It also sports very good battery life, a very capable movie mode, and excellent download speed. Finally, Sony makes a line of accessory lenses, filters, a slave flash, and even an underwater case for it as well, greatly expanding your options beyond what you’d normal expect from a compact digicam model. The bright 2.5-inch color LCD monitor is excellent for framing and reviewing shots, and the overall design and layout of the W50 is user-friendly and hassle-free. If you’re looking for a good “take anywhere” camera with great versatility and good color and tonality, the Sony DSC-W50 deserves a close look.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 – Review @ Cameras.co.uk
Cameras.co.uk have recently published a reviewe of the Sony CyberShot DSC-W50, a 6.0 megapixel (CCD) point-and-shoot digital camera with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens (38 – 114mm equivalent), and a 2.5″ LCD Screen.

“Both the indoor and outdoor portraits have many good points. The images are clear and sharply focused. This really does apply to the indoor portrait where the shot is a lot sharper than I have managed with most digital cameras I have tested. The DSC W50 does a very good job in bringing out the detail in the shot… The macro shot is o.k. If you are planning to use this camera for the occasional macro shot then you should be able to produce some very acceptable photos.”

Sony Cybershot DSC-H2 – Review @ CNET
CNET have recently published a review of the Sony Cybershot DSC-H2, a 6.0 megapixel CCD sensor point-and-shoot digital camera featuring a 6.0 megapixel CCD sensor, huge 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 36 – 432mm), and a 2.5″ LCD screen display.

“We like the DSC-H2′s photos and movie capture quality. It renders natural, accurate colors, with just the right saturation. Manual white balance yields the most neutral results, though the tungsten setting was a very close second under our test lights. Exposures were generally accurate. Moderate purple fringing turned up where you’d expect in high-contrast areas. Noise is minimal at ISO 80 and ISO 100 and becomes noticeable at ISO 200. By ISO 400, noise is very obvious, and at ISO 800 and ISO 1,000, the images become unacceptable for print.”

Sony CyberShot DSC-T30 – Review @ CNET Australia
CNET Australia have recently published a review of the Sony CyberShot DSC-T30, a 7.2 megapixels (CCD sensor) point-and-shoot digital camera with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x Optical Zoom lens (38-116mm equivalent), built-in image stabilisation, and a huge 3.0″ LCD screen.

“There’s nothing much to complain about the image quality on this Cyber-shot. Skin tones were reproduced correctly and colours were vivid. The auto white balance worked fine most of the time, and if it didn’t, then tough luck because there are no custom white balance settings on this unit. You can only select Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Incandescent and Flash in the menus. One thing to note, though — not all options are available in various settings. For example, in Program mode, you get only two choices: Auto and Flash. In addition, we foresee colour cast to be an issue when shooting in unusual lighting conditions.”

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-M2 – Review @ ImagingResource
ImagingResource have posted a review of the Sony hCyber-shot DSC-M2, a 5.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.5 inch Hybrid LCD screen.

“The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2 is about as unique a digital camera as could be imagined. It packs a 3x zoom lens and high-resolution five megapixel sensor into a reasonably compact body, and offers generally good image quality as well as movies that are much better than average…. At the end of the day, while the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2 does a lot to emphasise how to integrate (and really take advantage of) video in a still camera, its flaws, particularly in its zoom control and general overcomplexity, make me stop short of strongly recommending it. It shows clear potential, and with further refinement I could see the next generation earning praise, but the concept doesn’t yet live up to its initial promise.”
