Ricoh Caplio R4 - Review @ CNET Australia
CNET Asia have published a review of the Ricoh Caplio R4, a 6.0 megapixels (CCD sensor) point-and-shoot digital camera with 7.1x Optical Zoom lens (28-200mm equivalent) with Vibration Correction function, and a 2.5″LCD screen.

“Start-up time is a quick 1.1 seconds, shutter response is 0.007 seconds, with a delay of 0.5 seconds between shots. However, during the start-up, the screen notifies you about changes in settings to the default (unless these settings have been saved). This notification stays on for about five seconds, which is annoying, especially when you want to take a quick snapshot.The camera has a good battery life with the lithium ion battery allowing you to take over 330 shots between charges.”
Ten Stabilised Digital Cameras Comparison
BeHardware have recently done a survey comparing 10 Stabilised Digital Cameras including Canon Ixus 800-IS, Casio Exilim S600, FujiFilm FinePix F11, Konica Minolta Dimage X1, Nikon Coolpix P4, Olympus Mju 720 SW, Pentax Optio W10, Panasonic DMCFX01, Ricoh Caplio R3, and Sony DSC-T9. In the conclusion they write;

“We were looking for a compact, thin, fast, camera with image stabilization. Out of the 10 tested, one clearly finishes ahead, the Canon Ixus 800-IS. It doesn’t have major disadvantages, it’s good for macro, video and has a 4x zoom instead of the 3x of most of its competitors.”
Ricoh Caplio R4 - Review @ DigicamReview
DigicamReview have published a review of the Ricoh Caplio R4, a 6.0 megapixels (CCD sensor) point-and-shoot digital camera with 7.1x Optical Zoom lens (28-200mm equivalent) with Vibration Correction function, and a 2.5″LCD screen.

“Image quality is good, I was impressed by the accurate and rich colours - the images have good colour with rich saturation, contrast and detail - although with higher than average noise (on indoor photos or when ISO is left on AUTO), and slightly higher than average purple fringing. Images are slightly soft and could benefit from sharpening - there are options in the camera to alter sharpness. The camera did a good job focusing even in low light. Macro performance was very impressive. I did noticed some vignetting in one photo, however this was not the norm and I didn’t notice barrel or pincushion distortion. “

PROS: 7.1x zoom range, 28mm wide angle, Excellent image quality, Vibration correction is very effective, High quality LCD screen with a good anti-reflective coating, Very responsive for a compact. Images are sharp, detailed, colourful and almost completely free of noise when the light levels are good enough to use the lowest ISO setting.”
Ricoh GR Digital - Review @ TrustedReviews
Riyad Emeran has posted a review of the Ricoh GR at TrustedReviews. Ricoh GR Digital is a point-and-shoot digital camera with 8.1 Megapixel CCD, a fixed F2.4 focal length for the newly-developed GR 28mm wideangle lens and 2.5″ LCD screen.

“Shooting with just the standard lens the image quality is simply phenomenal, easily among the very best I’ve seen from any non-SLR camera. The GR lens lives up to its boasts and produces pin-sharp high-contrast detail right into the corners of the frame without even a hint of barrel distortion. Focusing is quick and accurate under nearly all lighting conditions thanks to the AF illuminator, and exposure is consistently spot on…Ricoh has produced something unique, a compact camera that will satisfy even the most demanding enthusiast. Its combination of compact portability, robust build quality, superb handling, creative control and fantastic picture quality should make it a firm favourite among keen photographers, especially the travel photographers who loved the original GR film camera. An expensive camera, especially for the whole kit, but well worth the money.
Ricoh GR Digital - Review @ ePhotozine
Gary Wolstenholme has posted his review of the Ricoh GR at ePhotozine. Ricoh GR Digital is a point-and-shoot digital camera with 8.1 Megapixel CCD, a fixed F2.4 focal length for the newly-developed GR 28mm wideangle lens and 2.5″ LCD screen.

“The level of detail recorded is very good, edges are sharp and there is very little sign of chromatic abberations. The performance remains good when using the optional wide-angel converter, the images are very slightly softer with a small drop in contrast, which is much better than I expected.
Pro: Clarity of images, Build quality, No-nonsense design, Optional wide angle converter, Macro mode.”
Cons: Display blackout when using continuous shooting, Time taken to write RAW images, Auto white-balance tends to create a strong cyan cast.
