Panasonic FZ50/LX2 Firmware Petition
Pavel Kudrys has started an online petition about the new 10 megapixel Panasonic DMC-LX2 and Panasonic DMC-FZ50 digital cameras;

“The main aim of this petition is to “force” the Panasonic to release a firmware update for their very recent prosumer cameras FZ50 and LX2. This new firmware should allow the users to turn the in-camera Noise Reduction (and other picture adjustments, like contrast, saturation and sharpness) completely OFF. The current option to set the picture adjustments to LOW is not enough, because the VENUS III NR is simply too strong and kills many fine details (as you already realized in your preview) and gives the JPEG output very smudgy and watercolor paint look.”
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 - Review @ Let’sGoDigital

“With the Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ5, Panasonic offer a very attractive camera indeed. It offers the consumer true value for money, a fact that is only emphasised by the combination of the 6x optical zoom and the optical image stabiliser, which proves an undeniable asset of the camera. The Panasonic LZ5 has quite a few predecessors, and it is always good to see that a new generation has been improved or upgraded on at least several points. The camera’s compact design allows you to carry it along easily, whilst the user-friendliness and easy operation ensure it can be used by all types of photographers. “
Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ5 - Review @ CamerasUK
CamerasUK has posted its review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5, new 6.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 6x optical zoom (equivalent to 37-222mm ), Image Stabilizer and 2.5″ LCD. He gives the camera 4 out of 5 stars and writes;

“Ease of use is another area where the DMC LZ5 scores highly. In fact this is an area where Panasonic are especially strong. The simplicity of their cameras is mainly down to one of the most simple menu systems available. If this is still too complicated for you there is a simple mode available. This cuts down the options to an absolute minimum. There is also text help available to help you get the most out of the many scene modes. “

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 - Review @ PCMag
PCMag have recently reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1, the world’s smallest point-and-shoot digital camera (released on 14.02.06) with 10x optical (equivalent to 35-350mm) Leica DC zoom lens, featuring a 5.0 megapixels (CCD), Image Stabilizer, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. They rate the camera 4.5 out of 5 and write;

“Overall, I thought the TZ1 did a good job at capturing our still-life scene set up here in PC Magazine Labs. Both the daylight and flash shots revealed a little noise. The colors were vibrant and had good saturation, but tended to be a little on the warm side. The flash shot seemed to display better, truer color than the daylight shot. There was no purple fringing in either shot. Even though both images were somewhat underexposed, they had good dynamic range. “
