Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 - Review @ Digtal Camera Info

DigitalCameraInfo has posted a review on Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1, a digital camera with 8.4 Megapixels, 4x Leica optical zoom lens, a 2.5″ LCD screen and an optical image stabilizer. They wrote:

“Likes: 16:9 movie mode, Nice LCD screen, High quality Leica lens, Durable aluminum body, Decent burst mode, User friendly exposure controls, Thorough software package
Dislikes: Expensive, Images are extremely noise (ISO 200 setting is pushing it, 400 is unusable), Rickety pop-up flash – placed off lens axis, Slippery zoom toggle, Small controls, Poorly translated scene help screen

In conclusion: With 8.4 megapixels, a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and a Leica 4x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 has a lot to offer consumers. That is, consumers with lots of money to offer Panasonic. The LX1 retails for $599, which is a substantial amount of money for a compact digital camera. The camera body itself isn’t especially gorgeous; it is more functional than sleek. The camera body has some good aspects to it: sturdy construction, a large LCD that can be viewed at just about any angle, and the compact dimensions; however, if consumers are expected to drop $599 on a point-and-shoot camera, noise should not be an issue. “

Panasonic DMC-LX1 - Review @ Luminous Landscape

LuminousLandscape recently posted their review on Panasonic DMC-LX1, a 8.4 megapixels camera with CCD chip, RAW support, true native 16.9 wide aspect ratio sensor, and an optical image stabilization. In conclusion they wrote:

Panasonic Lumix DMC LX1

“I really like the Panasonic LX-1. To have a shirt-pocket-sized camera with a high quality Leica lens, optical image stabilization, wide-aspect ratio 8.4MP chip, and decent manual handling, is a pleasure. Anyone coming from a DSLR will find that the shooting is slower, and the need to use the LCD for composition and focusing less then ideal (though typical of digicams). But then there aren’t that many DSLRs with 4:1 zoom lenses that will fit in a shirt pocket, so the argument is moot.

If you’re looking for a serious camera of this size, that requires you to expend some additional effort in post processing, yet rewards with portfolio grade image quality, the Panasonic LX-1will not disappoint.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 review @ Megapixel

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30

Megapixel.net reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 and wrote:

“At a sensitivity setting of 80 ISO, the sensitivity that is the least susceptible to noise, the FZ30 captures absolutely spectacular images with almost no noise and excellent sharpness…

The DMC-FZ30 is a prime example of cameras that have been termed “bridge” cameras as they offer some of the benefits of both digital SLR’s and compact cameras. While the DMC-FZ30 uses a slightly noisier sensor than the larger sensors used with digital SLR cameras, it has the advantage of having built-in stabilization and excellent optics, high resolution, versatile shooting modes and the simplicity of operation that is a hallmark of compact cameras. Moreover, it is a stand-alone camera that does not absolutely require additional components to be fully useable, and is effectively complete at a very competitive price. ..”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9 review by Jeff Keller

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9

Jeff Keller from DCRP reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9 and wrote:

“Camera performance is above average in most areas. The camera starts up fairly quickly, autofocus speeds are snappy, and there’s no noticeable shutter lag. The camera focuses well in low light situations thanks to its AF-assist lamp. Battery life is very good for a small camera. Photo quality is good, though images could be sharper. Purple fringing and redeye are also a problem.

If you want a capable and compact point-and-shoot camera, I’d recommend taking a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9. It’s not without its flaws, but its large screen, image stabilizer, good photo quality, fancy movie mode, and easy-to-use menu system make it well worth your consideration. “
