“The Lumix TZ1 does offer a lot of features. The 10x zoom, compact body and large clear LCD screen are the kind of features that will get you to part with your hard-earned cash when looking at the camera in a shop.Unfortunately it also has its less obvious weak points. I was surprised by the levels of noise at all ISO sensitivities, and the image quality at the long end of the zoom is less than I expected from a ‘Leica’ lens. The drop in contrast and soft ethereal look the images have is less than satisfactory for me.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ3 – Review @ Digicamreview

Digicamreview have recently posted a review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC – LZ3, a 5.0 Megapixels point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 mm to 105 mm), a 2.0″ LCD Screen and a built-in optical image stabilizer.

panasonic-lz3

” Image quality is average to good, the images have good colour (highly saturated), with good contrast and detail, although noise is high and detail is lost when ISO settings are increased. Best results were achieved outside on sunny days, but inside noise was noticably high. Purple fringing was quite low, and red-eye was not a problem. Exposure was occassionally a problem with some images under-exposed both inside and outside. The camera was generally very competent at focusing thanks to the focus assist lamp. I did not notice vignetting, or barrel or pincushion distortion. “

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 – Review @ ImagingResource

ImagingResource have posted a review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5, new 6.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 6x optical zoom (equivalent to 37-222mm ), Image Stabilizer and 2.5″ LCD. He gives the camera 4 out of 5 stars and writes;

panasonic-dmc-lz5

“The Panasonic LZ5 did quite well overall in our testing, delivering good bright color, good resolution, and only moderate lens distortion. The huge 2.5-inch LCD screen is great for sharing your photos with friends, and makes the menus easier to see, but the difficulty of seeing the screen clearly under bright lighting often left us wishing for an optical viewfinder as well…the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 delivers really excellent value and good picture quality at a surprisingly low price. While not a first choice for sports or other fast-paced action, the Panasonic LZ5 is a great little “all-around” camera with a nice long zoom lens, all in a compact, inexpensive package.”

Panasonic DMC-LS2 – Review @ ImagingResource

ImagingResource have recently published a review of the Panasonic DMC-LS2, a 5.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom (35-105mm) and 2″ LCD Screen.

panasonic_dmclz2

“The DMC-LS2′s images look just slightly soft overall, but definition is very good in the fine details. The apparent softness is due to the conservative approach Panasonic’s engineers took with the in-camera image sharpening. While its unprocessed images look slightly soft, there are essentially no sharpening artifacts in them, and they take unsharp masking after the fact in Photoshop or other image-processsing applications very well.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 – Review @ ePhotozine

ePhotozine have posted a short review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01, the world’s smallest point-and-shoot digital camera (released on 14.02.06) with 28mm wide angle Leica DC zoom lens, featuring a 6.0 megapixels (CCD), Leica DC 3.6x optical zoom (equivalent to 28-102mm) lens, Image Stabilizer, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen.

panasonic-lumix-dmc-fx01

“Good Points: Wide angle lens, LCD screen image quality, Build quality, Optical image stabilisation
Bad Points: Noise levels at all sensitivities are worse than I’d expected, Reflective cover on LCD screen
Verdict:The Panasonic Lumix FX-01 has a lot going for it. The wide angle zoom is unique in a camera of this size, the LCD screen is fantastic quality,as is the general fit and finish of the camera. The noise levels are the most disappointing aspect of this camera, at ISO80 there is already a noticeable level of noise present and by ISO 400 the image quality has deteriorated further. ”

Panasonic DMC LX-1 – Review @ ImagingResource

Imaging Resource recently posted their review on Panasonic DMC-LX1, a 8.4 megapixels camera with CCD chip, RAW support, true native 16.9 wide aspect ratio sensor, and an optical image stabilization. In conclusion they wrote:

Panasonic Lumix DMC LX1

“The Lumix LX1′s images are pretty sharp, with virtually no artifacts from over-eager sharpening or edge enhancement on the camera’s part. (Edge enhancement creates the illusion of sharpness by enhancing colors and tones right at the edge of a rapid transition in color or tone. Too much can coarsen or obscure fine details though.)…The Panasonic LX1 is an excellent little camera, and clearly one of the best bargains on the market in light of its resolution, color, and rich feature set. Its wide angle lens and 16:9 aspect ratio will make it an excellent landscape and vacation camera, making your photos feel like stills from a movie. Hikers should take note. With a Leica lens and a solid built, it is a strong value, and a “Dave’s Pick” to be sure. There’s really nothing else quite like it.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 – Review @ LetsGoDigital

LetsGoDigital has recently posted a review of the Panasonic DMC-FZ7, a 6.0 Megapixel SLR-like digital camera with 12x optical zoom (36=432mm equivalent) lens with image stabilisation and a 2.5″ LCD Screen.

panasonic_dmc_fz7

“We can conclude that the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7 is a powerful combination; guarantees high quality images and suits a large group of users. Despite its user-friendliness and low entry-level, the camera will certainly not limit or confine those who wish to expand their basic knowledge of photography, and are keen to experiment a little more. The Panasonic Lumix FZ7 is also an excellent step towards a possible future digital SLR camera… We truly recommend the Panasonic Lumiz Fz7.”

panasonic_dmc_fz7

“The Lumix DMC-FZ7′s images are pretty crisp overall, thanks to in-camera sharpening that’s just about right. (Edge enhancement creates the illusion of sharpness by enhancing colors and tones right at the edge of a rapid transition in color or tone.) High contrast subjects like the tree b ranches above show heightened contrast around the edges of details, but the effect isn’t overpowering. There’s even some edge enhancement in the highlighted strands of hair in the shot above right.Noise-suppression systems in digital cameras tend to flatten-out detail in areas of subtle contrast. The effects can often be seen in shots of human hair, where the individual strands are lost and an almost “watercolor” look appears. The crop above right shows this in the darkest areas, which show limited detail. (The FZ7 appears to be about average in this regard.)”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 – Review @ PhotographyBlog

PhotographyBlog has recently reviewed the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1, the world’s smallest point-and-shoot digital camera (released on 14.02.06) with 10x optical (equivalent to 35-350mm) Leica DC zoom lens, featuring a 5.0 megapixels (CCD), Image Stabilizer, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen.

panasonic-lumix-dmc-tz1

“Image quality is on the whole good, although the inability to alter sharpness in the camera is frustrating as the images are soft. The 5 megapixel 1/2.5 inch sensor used in the DMC-TZ1 is not as noisy as those used in other Panasonic cameras that I have tested, with ISO 80-200 being perfectly usable…. The TZ1 may be just a simple point and shoot camera in terms of creativity, with no control over aperture or shutter speeds, but you may also find that the focal range is simply too liberating to ignore. Highly recommended.”
