Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 – Review @ DigicamReview
DigicamReview has recently posted a review on Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ30, a 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 35mm to 420mm on a 35mm film camera) inheriting MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) and 2″ swivel LCD screen

“Image quality is very good, the images have very good colour, with rich saturation, contrast, and detail, although with higher than average noise. Purple fringing was quite low, as was red-eye. The camera did a good job focusing even in low light thanks to the focus-assist lamp. I did not notice vignetting in photos, nor did I notice barrel or pincushion distortion. There is a very good range of image sizes, and a very good choice of compression options (including RAW and TIFF). The macro mode is good, and provides good detail and colour. Auto white balance and metering seemed to be good. The movie mode is good, providing 640×480 and 30 frames per second with sound, and optical zoom. The camera gives very good control over image quality, allowing you to change the colour warmth, saturation, contrast, sharpness and noise reduction in camera.”

Canon EOS 5D Vs Canon EOS 20D – Review @ Photo.net
Bob Atkins has posted his test result comparing the full frame Canon EOS 5D and the APS-C sensor (1.6 crop) Canon EOS 20D.

Click on the image to visit the site
In conclusion he writes:
“It’s a win, but not a total “slam dunk” for the full frame sensor, at least as far as the EOS 5D vs. EOS 20D goes. With good lenses the results from the EOS 5D are better, though with noticeably higher vignetting when lenses are used wide open. Of course you can mostly compensate for vignetting in software, but still you may lose something. With low cost lenses shot wide open, the full frame advantage disappears, and in situations where you have your longest lens in use on an APS-C camera, switching to a lower pixel density full frame camera and cropping will lead to lower resolution images.”

Panasonic DMC-LS2 – Review @ Photoxels
Photoxels has reviewed the Panasonic DMC-LS2, a 5.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom (35-105mm) and 2″ LCD Screen.

“The pictures in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2 Gallery page provide a good sample of what the camera is capable of. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2 is very affordable, you get a [Lumix] DC Vario-branded lens, a very effective image stabilizer, lots of useful scene modes, live Histogram, Framing Guide, and image quality good enough for 4×6 in. prints and Web display (check out the Panasonic LS2 Photo Gallery and decide for yourself if they are good enough for your needs). At the price it is being offered, it makes a great first-time entry-level digital camera.”

Canon PowerShot A410- Review @ Let’sGoDigital
Ilse Jurrien has recently posted a review on Canon PowerShot A410, a 3.2 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3.2 optical zoom, at LetsGoDigital

“The image quality is great and the beginning photographer will succeed in taking a photo realistic print without all too much effort. The 3.2x optical zoom is of good quality, although it encounters a small distortion in the wide angle mode and suffers from a little chromatic aberration. However, upon zooming in these tiny hitches will disappear without a trace. The material used for the housing consists of durable plastic and has been neatly finished.
The CanonA410 will prove to be an outstanding camera for any novice that is looking for a digital camera. For this type of photographer, the possibilities and options offered make it very well suited to replace a 35mm camera. The quality lives up to all expectations; comfort and ease are close at hand. Still, it has to be said that there are boundaries and limitations to how far you can take this camera, it is for instance quite clear that unleashing one’s creativity will mostly remain restricted to the shooting modes. If this, however, is a fact you can overlook, the Canon PowerShot A410 will be an excellent choice indeed. The camera is therefore truly recommended to any beginning photographer!”

Olympus FE-120 – Review @ Steve’s Digicams
Steve’sDigicams has posted their review on Olympus FE-120, a 6.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 1.8″ LCD screen.

“Ergonomics are good. It has a good feel in your hands, and is still small enough to be tucked away in your backpack or handbag. The controls are easily reached by your finger tips and because of its fully automatic operation, the menu system is very simple and straight-forward. The only issue I had was with the position of the flash, it was very easy to block it with a finger from your right hand.
Image quality was average for a 6-megapixel entry-level model. The majority of our sample photos were sharp and showed pleasing color saturation.Bottom line – Olympus’ FE-120 may not be our first pick for a consumer looking for an easy to use point-n-shoot digital camera”

Olympus E-330 – Preview @ CNET
CNET have recently posted their preview on the new Olympus Evolt E-330, the first Digital SLR camera with interchangeable lens system & Live View which enables you for framing of shots without the need to look through the view finder.

“Upside: Obviously, the big upside is the live LCD preview, and the fact that Olympus has implemented it the right way, by equipping the camera with an LCD that flips out and swivels for maximum viewing flexibility.
Downside: As with any first-of-its-kind product, the Olympus E-330 is, to some extent, an unknown quantity. We won’t know until we try the camera whether the LCD viewing implementation works well or if its new Live MOS sensor (just a CMOS chip, presumably) is up to snuff.”

Pentax Optio WPi – Review @ DigitalCameraReview
DigitalCameraReview has posted their review on Pentax Optio WPi, a 6.0 Megapixel point-and-shoot water resistant digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 2.0″ LCD screen.

“The Pentax Optio WPi is a great choice if you’re looking for a waterproof camera (and don’t need to go to great depths). The waterproof, dustproof body has a rugged feel, but a stylish look. The camera also takes good, 6 megapixel images in a variety of conditions. I experienced good exposures in tough lighting situations, and good, if a bit saturated, colors. Noise levels were acceptable and the flash was enough to illuminate dark, normal-sized rooms.
The Pentax Optio WPi is a great option for someone who thinks they’ll need a camera in wet conditions. For example, I would love to take my digital SLR fly fishing with me, but it’s not going to happen. Having a waterproof Optio WPi would be great for capturing an image of the one that didn’t get away and then videoing the release underwater.”

Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 – Review @ ImagingResource
ImagingResource has reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T9, a very slim 6 megapixel (CCD) point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 2.5″ LCD screen.

“The Sony DSC-T9′s images are slightly soft overall, escaping any strong over-sharpening or edge enhancement on the camera’s part. (Edge enhancement creates the illusion of sharpness by enhancing colors and tones right at the edge of a rapid transition in color or tone.)
… the Cybershot T9 delivers good picture quality and a great feature set in a rugged, super-compact all-metal body. The 6.0-megapixel CCD is an nice feature in a camera this small, and the large LCD monitor is quite impressive as well. The T9 showed good image quality, with good color, and high resolution. Its image sharpness and noise levels aren’t quite up to the level of the best full-sized 6.0-megapixel cameras out there, but they’re very good for a subcompact model. Relative to competing full-sized digicams, the Sony T9 does have rather limited low-light capability and marginal flash power, but that’s to be expected in a camera of this size. The T9′s flexible exposure modes and features give the camera the versatility to handle most common shooting situations with aplomb. Overall, the Sony Cybershot T9 is an excellent option for busy consumers looking for a tiny digital camera that performs very well as a point-and-shoot.”

Fujifilm Finepix Z2 – Review @ Cameras.co.uk
Cameras.co.uk has reviewed the Fujifilm Finepix Z2, a 5.0 megapixel slim point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 2.5″ LCD Screen.

“On the whole I was pleased with the quality of the images I managed to produce with the Finepix Z2. The camera had no problem focusing in standard lighting conditions and the colours are strong. Although there is a slight fall off in sharpness towards the edge of each photo this is typical of this type of digital camera and is nothing to be overly concerned about with this camera.
..There is a lot to like about the Fuji Finepix Z2. It has a very stylish design and is easy to use. There are now a large number of digital cameras to choose from if you are looking for a pocket sized camera. At its current price I feel it is a bit expensive and better value can be found elsewhere. “
