Nikon D200 – Review @ DCRP
Jeff Keller has posted his review on Nikon D200, a Digital SLR camera with a 10.2 megapixel CCD sensor, 5 frames per second with bursts up to 37 JPEGs (Fine-Large) or 22 NEF (RAW) images and a large 2.5″ LCD screen, at DCRP and writes

“Photo quality was excellent as well. Photos were properly exposed, with vivid colors and low purple fringing and noise levels. As is typical with D-SLRs, images are very smooth, and some folks may want to sharpen things up a bit. My only real photo quality complaint is that noise levels are higher than I would’ve liked at ISO sensitivities above 640. They’re not horrible by any means, but after just reviewing the Canon EOS-5D, I’m a bit spoiled. Then again, the 5D costs $3299 and the D200 is $1699.”

8 Megapixel 30D – Why, oh Why ?
With many people were disappointed with the launch of Canon EOS 30D equipped with only 8 megapixel sensor, ImagingResource has done a brief interview with Chuck Westfall, Canon USA’s Director of Media and Customer Relationship, on the subject.

“IR: Congratulations on the launch of the EOS 30D. I wanted to try to answer a few questions that we’re hearing about the 30D’s decidedly evolutionary changes. While most features are welcome, some potential customers have expressed surprise and disappointment that the sensor resolution hasn’t changed. Is Canon concerned about how the 8.2 megapixel 30D will be received in the traditionally megapixel-driven, “more is better” market?
Westfall: We realize that the EOS 30D may not be everyone’s idea of a next-generation digital SLR, but we are confident that it adds value to our line-up. After all, it is based on the hugely successful EOS 20D, which has established a solid reputation for high performance at its price point. By improving the feature set and reducing the price, we feel that the EOS 30D is a compelling product that will satisfy the needs of a wide variety of photographers.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 – Review @ PhotographyBlog
Mark Goldstein from PhotographyBlog has posted his review on Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5, new 6.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 6x optical zoom (equivalent to 37-222mm ), Image Stabilizer and 2.5″ LCD. He gives the camera 4 out of 5 stars and writes;

“The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 produced images of average quality during the review period. The 6 megapixel images were quite soft straight out of the camera at the default sharpening setting and ideally require some further sharpening in an application like Adobe Photoshop, as you can’t change the in-camera setting.
So overall, the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 is a stylish, easy to use, versatile point and shoot camera that is afflicted by an old problem. The noise issue is by no means a show-stopper, particularly if you live in a sunny climate or tend to shoot mostly outdoors, but it does stop me from recommending this camera more strongly.”
