Sony Cyber-shot M2 – Review @ TrustedReviews

Cliff Smith has posted his review on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2, a 5.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.5 inch Hybrid LCD screen.

Sony-cyber-shot-dsc-m2

“For half the price you can get a camera that takes pictures and shoots video just as well, but is far easier to handle. The M2 may look cool and funky, and there’s no denying that it can take good pictures, but its shockingly poor handling, badly designed and over-complicated controls and limited battery life, combined with an inflated price tag, make this a big white elephant..”

Kodak EasyShare V603 – Preview @ DigitalCameraInfo

James Murray had his hands on the new Kodak EasyShare V603, a point-and-shoot digital camera featuring a 6.1 megapixels (CCD sensor) with 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5″ LCD screen.

kodak-v603

“With a great linear menu structure, uncomplicated navigation of the LCD interface and minimal manual control concerns, the Kodak EasyShare V603 continues to improve upon the Kodak point-and-shoot foundation from previous years. The camera has a well designed external interface with generous amounts of room between controls that are a bit too petite, but the four-way controller, the most often used of these features, is well-sized and spaced for premium access”

Canon EOS 5D Banding Issues

Chuck Westfall, Director/media & Customer Relationship at Canon USA, has made a comment on Canon EOS 5D banding issues.

eos-5d

“There may be cases where random noise or pattern noise [banding] stands out in images taken at high ISO settings. This is because the noise component is also amplified at high ISO settings. Various measures are taken to reduce noise, but the fact is that it cannot be entirely eliminated technologically. We are continuing to work on reducing noise even further.

The following shooting techniques can reduce or prevent the occurrence of noise.”
* Whenever possible, use low ISO settings (ISO 800 or lower)
* For subjects that do not move, use One-Shot AF mode

Horizontal line noise may be somewhat more noticeable for the following six lenses when compared to other lenses, but horizontal line noise with these lenses can be reduced by replacing parts.”

Panasonic DMC-LS2 – Review @ Steve’sDigicams

Steve’sDigicams has reviewed the Panasonic DMC-LS2, a 5.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom (35-105mm) and 2″ LCD Screen.

panasonic_dmclz2

“I was pleased with the overall image quality when using the 5M Fine mode. Both our indoor and outdoor samples showed good exposure and color balance. Its 3xoptical zoom lens offers a typical zoom range of approx. 35-105mm (35mm equivalent.) It helped produce sharp images, with noticeable barrel distortion at wide angle and slight pincushioning at full telephoto. I also noticed some image noise in areas of contrast, but no more than the average consumer model. Indoors, you have to work with in the limited range of the flash, about 12 feet at wide angle. As you use the zoom, this effective range will drop off significantly. We achieved the best results shooting small groups and individual portraits in mid sized rooms, using the mid telephoto range of the lens. “

Canon EOS 30D – Preview @ DigitalCameraInfo

Patrick Singleton had his hands on the new Canon EOS 30D, a digital SLR camera with 8.2 Megapixel (CMOS), 5 fps frame rate, 9-point autofocus, spot metering and 2.5 inch LCD screen.

canon-eos-30d

“Canon’s EOS 30D is numbered as if it were a major upgrade to the popular and excellent EOS 20D, and Canon marketing plumps it up even higher than that – the line is that it really has more in common with the 5D than the 20D. Really? With the same 8.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, the same DIGIC II image processor, the same 9-point autofocus system and the same 5 fps burst rate as the 20D, the 30D seems more like a respectable update of the 20D than anything else. When Canon put a bigger LCD and picture styles on the 1D Mark II, they changed the name to the 1D Mark II n. This new camera shows comparable improvements. We’d call it the “20D n,” if it were up to us. “
