Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW - Review @ DigitalCameraReview
Digital Camera Review have recently posted a review of the Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW, a 7.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera featuring water-proof (JIS level 8 - allowing it to be up to 110 feet underwater) & shock-proof (to MIL-STD-810F standards - dropable up to 1.5m) metal body with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 38-114mm) and 2.5″ TFT LCD screen.

“The 720 SW does a very good job in the image quality department. Colors are slightly punched up, but almost neutral when compared to most of the competition. Images are consistently just a bit soft, but not objectionably so. Noise levels are noticeably below average, although there is some minor pattern noise in dark image areas. There is also some noticeable loss of highlight detail in light colored areas in bright sunlight, but this is fairly typical of compact digital cameras. PROS: Waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, compact, stylish, good noise management, and very good image quality. CONS: Images slightly soft, no custom WB mode, slight tendency toward over-exposure”

Olympus E-330 - Review @ Steve’sDigicams
Steve’sDigicams have recently posted their preview on the Olympus Evolt E-330, the first Digital SLR camera with interchangeable lens system & Live View which enables you for framing of shots without the need to look through the view finder.

“Its image quality, flexibility and viewfinder compete favorably with the high-end consumer digicams, and its scene modes offer the ease of use needed by less-experienced photographers. But while the E-330 competes well with the prosumer cameras, its performance lags its amateur dSLR competition, most notably in autofocus performance/flexbility and continuous shooting. What makes the E-330 stand out is the Live View feature, offering a hybrid of prosumer digicam and dSLR viewfinders, and enabling you to enjoy the advantages of each in a single camera.”

Customizing Olympus E-500
J. Andrzej Wrotniak has an impressing website focusing on the Olympus system with lots of articles related to the Olympus E-System cameras. His last updated article is on how you can customize your Olympus E-500 to make the camera easier and more pleasurable in use.

“..once you customize the camera to your taste and working habits, you will most probably leave these settings the way they are. All of them are accessible from the two Settings menus.
I’ll be going through these settings in the order in which they are listed in the menu system.
One thing to remember: in order to have all these settings available, the camera must be set in one of the non-all-auto modes, i.e., the mode dial should be in P, A, S, or M position.”
Olympus EVOLT E-330 - Review @ DCRP
DCRP’s Jeff Keller has recently posted a review on Olympus Evolt E-330, a 7.5 megapixel MOS sensor Digital SLR with Live View feature which enables you for framing of shots without the need to look through the view finder.

“Photo quality on the E-330 was excellent in my opinion. The camera took properly exposed photos with accurate colors, minimal purple fringing, with the trademark “smooth” (some would say soft) look of a digital SLR. The biggest negative for the E-330 is its price. Is it worth paying almost $1100 for the E-330 kit, when you can get a Canon Rebel XT with a lens or the very capable Olympus E-500 dual lens kit for $700? Would I, Jeff Keller, pay four hundred dollars more for a live view feature? Probably not. But, since I’m not the one shopping for a camera here, you need to decide if its worth the extra money (not to mention the tradeoffs) for this often useful feature.”

Olympus Stylus MJU 720 SW - Review @ DigitalCameraInfo
DigitalCameraInfo have recently posted a review of the Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW, a 7.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera featuring water-proof (JIS level 8 - allowing it to be up to 110 feet underwater) & shock-proof (to MIL-STD-810F standards - dropable up to 1.5m) metal body with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 38-114mm) and 2.5″ TFT LCD screen.

“…Just as the hype made that camera even more disappointing, the letdown with the Olympus 720SW is even greater for the anticipation. This digital camera is a new release with a great durable body, but has the inner workings of far older models, with lengthy shutter lag, slow and inaccurate auto focusing, and an overly-convoluted menu structure. The camera also shoots choppy movie clips and lacks resolution for many of its scene modes. What’s the use of 7.1 megapixels that you can’t use in all of the shooting modes? And what is the use of a shockproof, waterproof digital camera which often produces blurry pictures? The Olympus 720SW is fantastically rugged and can take a few beatings, but, in the end, doesn’t produce shots which merit its $399 retail price. We hope to see Olympus continue to develop this body design, with modifications made to improve imaging capabilities on future models.”

Olympus Evolt E-330 - Review @ PCWorld
PCWorld has recently posted a review of the Olympus Evolt E-330, a 7.5 megapixel MOS sensor Digital SLR with Live View feature which enables you for framing of shots without the need to look through the view finder.

“The new EVolt’s image quality is good, with good detail and sharpness. Like many other Olympus cameras, the E-330 comes with factory settings that add a big contrast and saturation boost to your images. If you think it’s too much, you can easily tone down the effects by adjusting in-camera settings. If you shoot in RAW mode, you won’t have this problem.
For certain situations, the LCD viewfinder is very handy, but in general, people choose an SLR because they want a traditional through-the-lens camera experience. Moreover, LCDs are difficult to see in low light, and they don’t show the full dynamic range of a scene, which can affect your creative decisions.”

Olympus SP-320 - Review @ Digicamreview
Digicamreview has posted a review of the Olympus SP-320 (announced 26.02.06), a 7.1 megapixels point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom (equiv. 38-114mm) and a Large 2.5″ LCD screen. They recommend the camera and write;

” Image quality is very good, the images have very good accurate colour, with good saturation, contrast and detail, with fairly low noise except for the higher ISO settings. Images were slightly soft straight from the camera and could benefit from sharpening. Color fringing / purple fringing was quite low, although red-eye did creep in occassionally. The camera did a good job focusing, with low light focusing aided by the focus assist lamp. I did not notice vignetting in photos, nor did I notice barrel or pincushion distortion. Auto white balance and metering, and exposure seemed to be good to very good. The camera gives very good control over image quality - selecting different picture modes allows allows you to change the saturation, contrast and sharpness. The super macro mode was excellent, allowing you to get very close to the subject. “

Olympus E-500 - Review @ Shutterbug
Shutterbug has recently posted a review of the Olympus Evolt E-500, an entry level Digital SLR camera with 8.2 Megapixels, a 2.5″ LCD Screen, and SSWF anti-dust reduction system.

“Pros: High resolution, pleasing color rendition, snappy contrast, superb image quality at ISO 100-400, Supersonic Wave filter is highly effective in removing dust from CCD sensor, Overall speed should satisfy most photo enthusiasts, Vast range of features to satisfy both novices and experienced digital shooters, Two lens kit offers excellent value
Cons: Obvious digital noise at ISO 800, problematic noise at ISO 1600; new NR (Noise Reduction) filter blurs image details, Some features less than ideal: complicated depth of field preview, autofocus-assist available only with flash, small viewfinder, only three focus detection points “

Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW - Review @ Digicamreview
Digicamreview has recently posted its review of the Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW, a 7.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera featuring water-proof (JIS level 8 - allowing it to be up to 110 feet underwater) & shock-proof (to MIL-STD-810F standards - dropable up to 1.5m) metal body with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 38-114mm) and 2.5″ TFT LCD screen.

“The shockproof and dustproof qualities, and the solid build of the digital camera is likely to make the digital camera last much longer than other digital cameras, this makes it excellent value for money compared to less solid digital cameras. Image quality was generally good, although slightly under-saturated for some people’s tastes, and images were slightly soft. Noise was quite well controlled. “
