Olympus Mju Digital 810 – Review @ CamerasUK

CamerasUK has recently published a review of the Olympus Mju Digital 810, a 8.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera featuring BrightCapture Technology for brighter LCD and better images in low light including a special mode to reduce possible image blur, 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 – 105mm lens in 35mm format), and 2.6″ TFT LCD screen.

“The outdoor portrait shot was taken with the white balance control set to cloudy. This helps to add a bit of warmth to a photo taken on an overcast day. Indoors there are mixed results. The portrait shot is disappointing and the camera is unable to produce a sharply focused image. The macro shot is very good. I particularly like the level of brightness the camera manages to achieve. The shot is also clear and sharply focused.”

Olympus Mju Digital 810 – Review @ DCViews

DCViews has recently published a review of the Olympus Mju Digital 810, a 8.0 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera featuring BrightCapture Technology for brighter LCD and better images in low light including a special mode to reduce possible image blur, 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 – 105mm lens in 35mm format), and 2.6″ TFT LCD screen.

“In use the camera handles like the proverbial dream and one handed operation is easy thanks to the wedge shaped design, with the right hand side being thicker for an easier grip. We have to mention however that the shiny scratch resistant covering of the HyperCrystal LCD is highly reflective and makes reviewing or composing images rather difficult in any but the most ideal lighting situations. Especially image contrast and sharpness cannot easily be assessed without covering the screen with your hands or taking the camera out of direct sunlight.”

Nikon Coolpix P3 – Review @ DPInterface

DPInterface has a new review of the Nikon Coolpix P3, a a 8.1 megapixels (CCD sensor) point and shoot digital camera with 3.5x optical zoom lens (36-126mm equivalent), a 2.5″ LCD screen, Vibration Reduction (VR), and a Built-in WiFi.

nikon-coolpix-p3

“ISO 50 is fairly clean while noise goes up a bit at ISO 100. ISO 200 noise is still acceptable. The final ISO 400 shot is also clean as well. No chromatic aberration (color fringing) to be seen either. Barrel distortion is not very noticeable while pincushion distortion is not. Colors accuracy was on par and there was some red-eye. Default settings used by the camera should be enough to satisfy most, with saturation and sharpening turned up. The Nikon Coolpix P3 produces very good photos whose quality are the same as the P4. I still see room for an ISO 800 option here though.”

Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW – Review @ TrustedReviews

TrustedReviews have recently posted a review of the Olympus Mju Digital 720 SW, a 7.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera featuring water-proof (JIS level 8 – allowing it to be up to 110 feet underwater) & shock-proof (to MIL-STD-810F standards – dropable up to 1.5m) metal body with 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 38-114mm) and 2.5″ TFT LCD screen.

olympus-mju720sw

“I also found image quality to be lower than I had expected, especially considering the excellent results I’ve had from previous mju series cameras. The lens is slower than on previous models, and is distinctly soft toward the edges of the frame, especially at the wide angle setting where there is also appreciable barrel distortion. Images look over-processed, and even in bright sunlight and at ISO 100 there is visible noise and colour speckling, although oddly high ISO performance is comparatively good. “

Olympus Evolt E-330 – Review @ DigitalCameraInfo

DigitalCameraInfo has recently posted a review of the Olympus Evolt E-330, a 7.5 megapixel MOS sensor Digital SLR with Live View feature which enables you for framing of shots without the need to look through the view finder.

olympus-evolt330

“We tested the EVOLT E-330 in low light settings ranging from 60 lux, which is enough light to read by comfortably, to 30, 15 and 5 lux. 5 lux is about the light level in a room lit by one of two candles, and is challenging for any digital camera. We set the E-330 to ISO 400 and shot at a range of shutter speeds. We test many DSLRs at ISO 1600, but chose not to do that with the E-330 because Olympus warns that its settings above 400 are an extended range and the manual has reservations about image quality at the highest ISOs.”

Olympus SP-500 UZ – Review @ Let’sGoDigital

Let’sGoDigital have posted their review of the Olympus SP-500 UZ, a 6 megapixel digital camera with a huge 10x optical zoom and 2.5″ LCD screen.

Olympus SP500 UZ

“The optical zoom lens works very well indeed. There is only a very light degree of distortion, but in general it performed well above average. The focussing also works well and the camera aims accurately thanks to the presence of an AF assistance illuminator. The colour reproduction is true to life and the automatic white balance works like a dream; it really is excellent. The noise ratio is fine throughout the entire ISO series and is great for high quality prints. Being able to save pictures in the RAW format gives the user the best materials for processing the picture to get it just right. “

Olympus Evolt E-330 – Review @ TrustedReviews

TrustedReviews have recently posted a review of the Olympus Evolt E-330, a 7.5 megapixel MOS sensor Digital SLR with Live View feature which enables you for framing of shots without the need to look through the view finder.

olympus-evolt330

“Performance-wise, the E-330 is a bit of a mixture. Its start-up time is about two seconds, rather slower than the effectively instant start up times of most DSLRs. It can shoot 10 shots in around six seconds in SQ quality mode and continuous shooting, somewhat slower than the 3fps claimed in Olympus’ press materials.”
