Fujifilm FinePix S9000/S9500 - Review @ Bytesector

Emad G. has just posted a review on FFujifilm FinePix S9500/S9000 Zoom at Bytesector. FinePix S9500/S9000 Zoom is a SLR-like digital camera featuring 9 Megapixels with a long 10.7 optical zoom and a 1.8″ LCD screen.

“Images typically came out fairly soft and colours carried the typical Fuji coolness that I’ve come to love. In addition to this, the onboard flash on the camera is fairly powerful and well placed. Red-eye was minimal under all shooting conditions. The lens provided for some great shots both close up and at long distance with only a minimal amount of purple fringing to be noticed in most shots. In some, it was glaringly obvious, but it was a rare occurrence. This is due more to the fact that most point-and-shoot cameras just don’t have the quality of optics offered in the lenses for true SLR cameras.”

Fujifilm FinePix V10 - Review @ LetsGoDigital

Dennis Hissink has recently posted his preview on Fujifilm FinePix V10, a 5.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera (Super CCD) with 3x optical zoom and a huge 3″ LCD screen.

fuji_v10

“Although I have had the Fujifilm FinePix V10 only for a short time in the office, and the status of this model is of pre-productions, I am impressed. The Fujifilm V10 is compact, highly attractive, offers a large 3 inch monitor and is easy to handle. Years ago Fujifilm started to use their own Super CCD concept. In the beginning there were many out there who doubted the technical potential or just did not think of the impact this small sensor could have in future compact digital cameras. Fujifilm has proven to be right and invested a long time ago in the future. Being able to deliver a compact digital camera that has no difficulties in handling noise issues is of high interest nowadays. I can only assume that some manufacturers would be eager to get this sensor into their own series of digital cameras…”

Cameras.co.uk has reviewed the Fujifilm Finepix Z2, a 5.0 megapixel slim point-and-shoot digital camera with 3x optical zoom and 2.5″ LCD Screen.

fuji-finepix-z2

“On the whole I was pleased with the quality of the images I managed to produce with the Finepix Z2. The camera had no problem focusing in standard lighting conditions and the colours are strong. Although there is a slight fall off in sharpness towards the edge of each photo this is typical of this type of digital camera and is nothing to be overly concerned about with this camera.

..There is a lot to like about the Fuji Finepix Z2. It has a very stylish design and is easy to use. There are now a large number of digital cameras to choose from if you are looking for a pocket sized camera. At its current price I feel it is a bit expensive and better value can be found elsewhere. “

Fujifilm Cuts 5,000 Jobs

Bloomberg reported that Fujifilm will eliminate 5,000 jobs and shift some production to China from Japan.

“Fuji Photo’s plan symbolizes an end to the film camera era,” said Hiroshi Chano, who helps oversee $6.7 billion at Yasuda Asset Management Co. in Tokyo. “The digitalization of the camera industry occurred at much faster pace than I expected. Reorganization will be a painful process for Fuji Photo.”

By taking these restructuring steps, we hope to reduce fixed costs and secure stabile profits in our imaging solutions division,” the Tokyo-based company said in the statement. “

FujiFilm FinePix F11 - Review @ PhotographyBlog

PhotographyBlog has posted a review on Fujifilm Finepix F11 and gives it 4.5 out of 5 stars. finepix_f11

“The Fujifilm Finepix F11 produced images of fantastic quality during the review period. The 6 megapixel images are a little soft straight out of the camera and ideally require some further sharpening in an application like Adobe Photoshop. Unfortunately there are no in-camera sharpening options. The Fujifilm Finepix F11 dealt very well with chromatic aberrations, which only appeared in a few of the test shots - very limited fringing effects could only be seen in very high contrast situations. Macro performance is above avearge, allowing you to focus as close as 5 cms away from the subject. The built-in flash worked well indoors with no red-eye and good overall exposure. The night photograph was very good too, with the maximum shutter speed of 15 seconds offering lots of scope for creative night photography. The Fujifilm Finepix F11’s most impressive feature in terms of image quality is the extensive and very usable ISO range of 80-1600.”

Fujifilm FinePix E900 Zoom - Review @ DigitalCameraInfo

Patrick Singleton has posted his review on Fujifilm FinePix E900, 9 Megapixels SuperCCD digital camera with 4x optical zoom and 2″ TFT LCD screen, and writes:

fujifilm-e900

“The FinePix E900 is a very solid compact camera, with unusually high resolution, good color and image quality, good manual controls and a well-crafted interface. It’s a sensible upgrade from standard compact cameras for users who want to use manual controls, either to learn how to use them, or because they want to actively shape their images.”

The pros and cons are:

“Likes: Manual exposure controls are complete and convenient, Image quality is very good, Resolution approaches DSLRs, Hand grip is comfortable and secure, 32mm equivalent is pretty wide-angle for a compact camera, 9 megapixel files are plenty big and extremely sharp

Dislikes: LCD has minimal resolution, Manual focus is not effective, Movie mode is spoiled by focus motor noise, Viewfinder is inconvenient, Older Fujis have higher maximum ISO ”
