PrinterSpot has recently reviewed the HP Photosmart A716, a compact inkjet photo printer that has memory card slots and an adjustable 2.5″ LCD display, which allows you to easily print photos without hooking it up to a computer.

“The HP Photosmart A716 produces good quality images that lack a slight amount of detail. The colors and brightness are fairly true to our control image, but the grays have a slight purplish cast, the aqua is more of a blue, and not surprisingly, the green was darker, showing less true green…The Photosmart A716 does a fair job with skin tones, but some detail is lost. The black background is not as deep as the original, and it had difficulty with the control image’s ash and gold tones in the hair.”

TrustedReviews has posted a review of the Kodak Professional 1400, a printer designed for the semi-pro or professional photography market featuring 3-color dye sublimation and the ability to print A4 color photo in under 1.5 minutes.

“This is a no-fuss printer for the semi-pro or professional photographer who wants to print or proof 10 x 8-inch or A4 images in a repeatable and predictable way. Output quality is very good, especially with the water and fingerprint resistant Xtralife coating. However dust specks can be a problem and may restrict the Professional 1400’s use as an ‘event’ printer. “

PrinterSpot’s Marc Frochtzweig has posted a review of the Canon Selphy DS810, a three-colors compact inkjet photo printer with wireless support, PictBridge, memory card slots, and a 2.5″ LCD Screen.

“With only three inks, the DS810 produces good images compared with printers in its class but won’t match output from most other printers with more inks. Overall the DS810 is a decent compact inkjet printer, though models offered by other manufacturers can produce the same quality prints for less money. It’s also worth looking at compact dye-sub models (like Canon’s CP710), which have better-looking — and cheaper — prints.”
