The Battery Has Evolved: USBCELL
LONDON, U.K. — September 19, 2006 — Moixa Energy, the renewable and portable energy solution specialist, today announced the launch of the USBCELL — a new concept in batteries. This revolutionary rechargeable battery can charge from any USB port without the need for any recharging devices, cradles or cables. Simply pop the lid to reveal a built in connector and charger, plug into any powered USB port on your desktop, laptop, keyboard or games console, to charge the battery.

USBCELL can be used exactly like a normal battery meaning there is now no need to purchase huge packs of alkaline batteries, or invest in or carry a clunky charger. Billions of USB ports are readily available in homes and workplaces around the world meaning you never need to run out of power and making the USBCELL extremely cost-effective and convenient for all battery-powered devices. Currently available in the AA format, the USBCELL will shortly comprise a full range of standard formats, phone and camera batteries.
Lowepro Launches The Apex Collection
The Apex Collection of pouches are the first of Lowepro’s smaller pouches to be fitted with an All Weather Cover which can be pulled over the bag if you get caught out in bad weather. They also feature a moulded rubber bumper positioned at the front of the bag to act as an additional protective barrier when carrying camera gear across rough terrain.

The range combines rugged, durable construction with Lowepro’s ‘designed for digital’ soft tricot lining to ensure equipment is protected from knocks, falls and scratches at all times. Apex pouches are made from water-resistant nylon and are fitted with reversed zippers to keep out sand and dust.
Manfrotto Launches the Modo Tripod Range
The Modo range of tripods offers the versatility of a photo and video tripod in one easy to use lightweight model, making it ideal for photographers using a compact camera or video camera to switch between filming and shooting still pictures. The range consists of 2 tripods - the Modo Maxi and Modo Mini, plus a Modo Monopod.

Offering features to help achieve professional quality results, the Modo tripod has a joystick operated ball head which combines both photo and video specific operation in one hybrid head. The Modo head has been designed to easily switch between the two modes at the turn of a dial to allow the camera to be handled smoothly and with ease, while the quick release plate means the camera can be attached to, or removed from the tripod quickly and easily.
Pro-View wireless remote display
>> PRESS RELEASE
The Pro-View Wireless Remote Display (WRD) uses a micro-colour video camera and a 2.4 GHz transmitter in a custom enclosure that slips on the camera in place of the eye cup. You are now ready to see the view through your lens on your remote hand-held colour display. A focus adjusting knob allows for precise focusing on any camera.

The Pro-View WRD allows the photographer the freedom to be much more creative in camera placement. New perspectives can be attained with precise composition; no more point and hope shots. With the Pro-View WRD, you see what your camera sees by viewing the live view on a hand-held colour display.
Zigview S2 Digital Angle Finder
The new Zigview S2 attaches to your Digital SLR viewfinder and displays a live video feed from the viewfinder to its large 2.5 inch high resolution LCD. With this cool device, you can move the LCD to fully tilt and rotate for viewing at any angle. The Zigview S2 screen can also be detached from the main unit to view the subject and fire the shutter from a remote location up to 10 meters away.

“The SUN-SG8 Digital Photo Frame is one of kind. There are more digital displays on the market, but till now I haven’t seen any display that has so many goodies built-in. The interchangeable frames give you the opportunity to integrate this display smoothly in your living room, bedroom, office, store and many other situations…If you are looking for a special gift for a special friend, or a display that helps you promote your product; the SUN-SG8 is it. The Digital Photo Frame has an affordable price and simply gives you good value for money!”
Think Tank Photo Airport Security
Ellis Vener has posted a new review of the Think Tank Photo Airport Security at PPMag.com where he writes;

“My overall impression of both the Airport Security Roller and the Pro Modulus system is that they fully live up to Think Tank’s credo of “designing highly functional bags for photographers (to support them) in doing their jobs.” Much of the credit for this is that the designers listen directly to working photographers, and that two of the four principals in the company are working photojournalists themselves.”
Lowepro CompuDaypack - Review @ DigitalCameraReview
DigitalCameraReview’s Ben has written a brief review of the Lowepro CompuDaypack, a lightweight yet spacious backpack for a notebook model (fits most 17″models) and a digital SLR with lens attached up to a 105mm f/2.8), plus 2-3 additional lenses or flash units.

“The Lowepro CompuDaypack handles all of that extremely well. It’s by no means a light load, but the backpack handles it very well. I don’t have to walk far or leave it on my back very long, but I have worn it for a couple hours at a time with a similar load. The backpack remained very comfortable. PROS: Excellent quality, Holds a lot, but is not too bulky, Good padding for notebook and camera equipment. CONS: Single zipper on top compartment, No extra sleeve to secure smaller notebooks in the larger notebook compartment”
LowePro Dryzone Rover - Review @ WyldfireStudios
LowePro Dryzone Rover, the world’s first backpack designed to safely carry both a hydration system and camera gear all inside the same bag, has been reviewed at wyldfires.com

“This is a very good pack. It’s a nice design overall, and it fits me fairly well. The waist belt could do with a little more redesign, but as LowePro doesn’t make multiple sizes to fit multiple people, the waist belt is about as good as it’s going to get. The waist belt fits me “well enough”, although I would have liked for it to fit more, but it’s doubtful that will happen with a one-size-fits-all camera bag.
Switching out lenses quickly is not exactly an option with this bag, but what you sacrifice in quickness, you do get in waterproofing. For hikes where I know things aren’t going to get wet, I will probably pick up something that can attach to the waist belt or to the pack for lenses that I want to interchange quickly.
