Canon WP-DC34 Underwater Housing User Reviews

Excellent value!
“Very recent purchase, and I’ve only used it on about 15 dives but I’ve been very pleased. The only issue I’ve had is a stuck shutter button at 85′ feet when diving a wreck. I had to power off between shots. It released itself at the safety stop and I noticed after the dive that there was a cut out in the clear plastic around the shutter button that I could have used to insert a pick and relase it manualy. It may have been due to the silty nature of the wreck interior and it seems to have been a freak accident – one that I now know how to correct without losing shots. I have no complaints with the Canon housing at all.” – By R. Watkins

Canon WP-DC34 Underwater Housing for G11
“Have not yet had a chance to use this housing underwater yet. But if I compare it to the WP-DC12 housing for the PowerShot A570IS, the I have every reason to believe that this product will prove entirely satisfactory. The buttons are large enough for fingers covered by 7mm gloves, without accidently pushing more than one button. The kit comes complete except for weights, which I feel should have been included. “ – By A. M. Swartz

Great UW Case for the Canon Powershot G11
“Excellent case, particularly for the price. I live on the Big Island where the reef is only a 15min drive, thus get to use my gear every few weeks. I bought the G11 as an everyday carry camera and a dive camera. The case is setup with a tray and a Sea&Sea YS-110 flash unit. Photo quality is excellent, challenging much larger DSLR cameras for quality in a unit that costs far less.” – By Andrew Cooper

Great Fun for Snorkeling (BIG Caveat: Have not tried at depth yet)
“The buttons and dials are very easy to use, even with diving gloves on. They’re nice and big. On the G11 (and maybe this is true on all cameras), the buttons for the “Scene” mode and for the “Video” mode are right next to each other. I set the “Scene” for underwater and so I was able to switch back and forth for still photos and video without a lot of scrolling. “ – By Cynthianna

Underwater Magic
“I’m a newly certified diver and was looking for an affordable but good quality option for taking underwater photos. The case for my SLR ran upwards of $1,400 so I tried the WP-DC34 with the Canon G11 and am absolutely thrilled with the results! Some of the controls (e.g. zoom) are easier to use with the housing than without. I’d recommend this for a serious amateur on a budget. “ – By PhotoBuff

It took two orders to complete purchase
“The underwater housing is great. The problem is that if used underwater, it should have weights attached to make it buoyancy neutral. After receiving the housing, I had to order the weights. It would have been more convenient to have the information at hand to order both at the same time.” – By Donald W. Bryden

Dive Pictures
“I purchased this for a dive trip to the caymans, after 10 dives (thus far) it is holding up very well, Ive had it to a depth of 110 feet and no leaks have occurred. Use silcon on the O-ring and seal it in the room and then test it in a tub of water for leaks before submerging and you should not have any problems, 2 more dives to go. “ – By Kevin K Williams

Works well, lots of control
“I’ve had this case for about four months. I’ve gone river rafting, hot springing, waterfall swimming, and diving down to 75′ with it. The unit worked very well. Two comments: when you turn the dials on top, the camera dial rotates in the opposite direction; pushing the button half way to clear a pic that’s on hold is problematic (easily solved by having the pic hold for 2 seconds). Highly recommended.” – By Jacques

Quite satisfied
“I pressed on and found that the steps to finalize the product before placing my camera into it was quite simple. I am very satisfied with the casing and the ease with which to use my camera once it’s inside the casing. My pictures were outstanding and it was so exciting to be able to use my (very) expensive camera under water. Maintenance is a must so heed to the instructions.” – By Lori Mazaras
