I'm not a camera expert, but I know a little and the basic point and shoot. The new Canon S95 is the best quality compact I have used. The LCD screen is brilliant and quite precise as far as colors. The camera also starts up quickly, being ready to take a picture less than 2 seconds after I power it on. At daytime, the photography is as good as many SLR's out there, and in low light, it's far and away better than any compact

All in all I am very happy with the S95, however, I am really dissapointed with the Macro feature. I cant get the really close and detailed shots that both of my older (and much cheaper) Pentax Optio compacts did, It seems that with the S95, when I get close to the subject it reverts from Macro back to normal shooting mode, taking it out of focus??!! I've tried in auto and manual modes and still have the same problem. I dont think its user error; in automatic mode I wouldnt think there was too much that I can be doing to create this problem. Anyone else had the same problem. Any thoughts or help would be gratefully appreciated.
