Canon PowerShot A580 Reviews

CNET reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“The good: Great pictures for little investment; intuitive operation; advanced face detection for its class. The bad: Feels and looks cheap; bulky; slow shot-to-shot performance, especially with flash. The bottom line: It’s slow and unglamorous, but the Canon PowerShot A580 captures good pictures at a low price.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆ reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“It’s a Canon after all and image quality is unlikely to be the weakest link. Barrel distortion at the wide end is present, but purple fringing is kept well under control.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

LaptopMag reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“Canon has assembled a good mix of ergonomics, features, and image quality, at an affordable price with the A580. Pros: Optical viewfinder, Fast 4X zoom lens, Good ergonomics. Cons: Settings can be confusing, Low-resolution LCD viewfinder, No built-in memory”
Rating: ★★★½☆

PhotographyBlog reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“At its best – shooting at the Large Superfine setting at base ISO, medium focal lengths and with the lens stopped down a notch by the camera – the A580 can produce photos that print beautifully at 30x40cm. ”
Rating: ★★★★☆

ImagingResource reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“Image quality was generally good, capturing natural color with excellent detail. But we did find it hard to hang onto highlights even under overcast skies. Overall quality, however, exceeded our expectations for an 8-megapixel camera that retails for under $150.”
Rating: N/A reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“No surprises. This is another Canon digital camera offering very good picture quality at a very reasonable price. If you want something relatively inexpensive, but effective then you could do a lot worse than pick up the Canon Powershot A580. ”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCMag reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“Image quality was the same as with the A590 IS. The camera produced accurate colors and clear images…The Canon PowerShot A580 is a fine entry-level point-and-shooter, but for $30 more you can get the nearly identical A590 IS, which adds image stabilization and manual controls. ”
Rating: ★★★☆☆ reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“Resolution had begun to decline by ISO 400 but only plunged at the ISO 1600 setting, where there was the greatest discrepancy between centre and edge resolution…White balance performance was slightly better than average, with excellent colour reproduction under fluorescent light. ”
Rating: ★★★★½

Steve’sDigicams reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
“The camera did an excellent job with exposures, even with the sun reflecting off of the snow..Bottom Line – the Canon PowerShot A580 is a very appealing entry-level digital camera. The combination of performance, quality and ease of use make it a great camera for the home or office. ”
Rating: N/A

InfoSync reviews the Canon PowerShot A580 and writes;
” Pros: good overall image quality, wide selection of ISO sensitivities, white-balance control.
Cons: Slow image-processing, tends to over-sharpen, some fringing issues, serious focus-inconsistency”
Rating: ★★★½☆
