Canon PIXMA MP500 Reviews

Pcpro reviews the Canon PIXMA MP500 and writes;
“The printer is essentially the same as the Pixma iP5200R, so we weren’t surprised that it delivered excellent quality. Normal text was flawless: sharp and black. Our monochrome image and A4 photomontage were both reproduced accurately too. “

PCWorld reviews the Canon PIXMA MP500 and writes;
“We also noted excellent contrast and surprisingly sharp details in photos printed on plain paper, though a little banding was visible in the darkest areas. On photo paper we saw beautifully sharp images with bold colors.”

Canon PIXMA MP500 User Reviews

WOW
“Bought this all in one for my son for college. WOW! Great quality printing, easy to use, everything works perfectly! When you calculate the ink cost versus HP or other printers you’ll find it is one of the lowest cost per page printers around. The best thing is that the text printing is done with a different cartridge so your cost for b&w printing stays way down. “ – by R. Davenport

TOTAL PERFECTION
“After having read all 119 reviews I kinda figured these folks might know what they are talking about. Well…let me tell you…this is a fabulous printer! It is not only a beautiful, elegant design, it is very nice. Very easy to install for this 58 year old so I know all you young minds won’t have a problem! I LOVE the ink option that you only have to replace the one that needs replacing rather than the whole series of ink.” – by Carol

Works great so far
“I’ve had this less than a year, and so far I’m happy with it. However, I was happy with my previous all-in-one (an Epson) until the ink jets clogged after a year of use, so I’m still waiting to see how this one holds up. At least the ink isn’t as expensive as some, and it appears the print heads can be replaced if it ever becomes necessary. I like having a paper feed under the printer so I can stick it in a cabinet and not have paper sticking out. I use the duplex printing (printing both sides) quite a lot. Changing ink is simplicity itself. The quality of the printing has been fine, but then I have never had problems with print quality on other printers. “ – by Richard Gordon

pretty good printer
“All that being said, this is a great little printer. It has no FAX, and I haven’t tried the scanning function, but strictly as a printer, it suits my needs perfectly. I run printouts for an online business, so this thing has gotten a MAJOR workout already in the 6 months or so that I’ve owned it–much more than many of you may EVER have to print, and the print quality is very good..” – by 3dgeek

Get this printer
“I cannot rate this item high enough. I purchased a refurbished printer that is in every respect as high-quality as a brand new one. I dropped my Avery business cards into the machine and viola! 150 photo-quality business cards without a hitch! (And fairly fast, too!) And I mean PHOTO-QUALITY. The cards look like they just came from a professional printing house. Part of the excellent design of this printer is that the paper isn’t folded back over onto itself like HP printers. This means higher bond paper (like photo papers, business card stock, resume’ paper, and other thicker materials) feeds straight through WITHOUT GETTING CAUGHT, BOUND, OR JAMMED! “ – by Derek A. Wade

Good quality printing, menus on machine a little tricky
“Photo quality – I have printed out lots of color pictures and have been very happy with the printer wizard feature which asks you what you are trying to print and on what paper to determine the ink settings. I have found that this prints excellent pictures with the Canon glossy paper. It is important to use the printer wizard though, because the printer does make adjustments for different paper types. Text print quality – Very crisp. I do print pictures, but a majority of my printing is printing out directions from mapquest, a letter from Word, my schedule from Outlook, etc. I have been amazed at how crisp the text quality is especially for a photo printer. This has very crisp text, even in color.” – by Michelle Coleman

The best printer I’ve ever purchased
“I use both HP and Canon printers. I used to own only Epson printers but ran into issues with them. I use an HP printer for basic word documents (cheaper on ink) and the Canon MP500 for photos. I’ve never owned a consumer-based printer that prints photos as clear as this printer. It’s awesome. I purchased the printer last summer and I haven’t bought cartridges yet. I’m anticipating that they will be somewhat pricey. I also have a Canon SD20 digital camera that works seamlessly with the USB port on the front of the printer.” – by James G

Extremely reliable printer
“This has been a very long lasting, reliable printer for me. I use it for my business and demand a lot of it, and it has kept up with my needs admirably. It is fast, the print quality is good, and the separate ink tanks save money. My only complaint is that when I want to copy something, it defaults to a smaller size than the 8 1/2 x 11 that I usually need. I’ve had other Canon printers that have had problems with the feed system after a while, but after a year of heavy use have not had any problems with this one. “ – by L. La Fave

Met all my expectations
“I purchased this printer second hand and I am absolutely delighted with it. Quiet as a mouse, clear crisp output, quite quick and altogether in a word, “great.” I print almost completely in Grayscale simply because it saves money but the cartridges are not too pricey and I’ve found the machine most reliable. I can’t speak for its color quality so I wont. The scanner and the printer both worked flawlessly on both a Mac (Lepoard OSX) and a PC (XP) through USB connection.” – by Mark Singer
