Canon PIXMA iP90 Reviews
Expertreviews reviews the Canon PIXMA iP90 and writes;
“Plain paper print quality was fine, although colours weren’t especially vibrant. Standard text was very good, but increasing the quality to High introduced some jaggedness to outlines and this wasn’t fixed by realigning the print heads. Photo prints were too faint, particularly in dark areas.”
CNET reviews the Canon PIXMA iP90 and writes;
“the Canon iP90 bested the portable HP Deskjet 450wbt’s lackadaisical 1.5 pages per minute (ppm). An 8×10-inch photo on photo paper took the iP90 slightly more than a minute, almost three times as fast as its predecessor’s 2.81 minutes and nearly four times faster than the HP Deskjet 450wbt’s 4.07 minutes to print one photo.”
Trustedreviews reviews the Canon PIXMA iP90 and writes;
“Print quality for a portable printer is really very good. Canon’s FINE print technology produces ink drops as small as two pico litres and whether it’s this or the high-precision ink-placement, the overall result is exceptionally smooth colour transitions and sharply defined edges in photo images. Text is also very sharp and clean-cut, providing high contrast for text pages. Colour graphics are bright and clean with no visible banding and good colour fidelity. A very impressive result from a compact printer like this.”
Goodgearguide reviews the Canon PIXMA iP90 and writes;
“On photo paper, colour and greyscale images looked a little light; and compared with prints from full-size inkjets, the images lacked some contrast, which made them look slightly blurry. That said, the unit produced very crisp photos for a portable printer.”

LICKITY SPLIT, | Rating:
“This is one fast and fit printer to have when you are on a trip. I traveled to several states this summer and used it in every hotel/motel I was in. It took up virtually little space and was as compact as can be, with the top opening to accommodate sheets of paper and a snap-open bottom (front of printer) that lets them spew out when printed to. Colors were quite good. Price is competitive. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!” – by P. Le Mire
Goes through ink cartridges like there’s no tomorrow, | Rating:
“The ink cartridges are very small. As a result, they run out very very quickly, and need almost constant replacement. I’ve had to replace the b&w and color cartridges practically every month, and I don’t even do that much printing. Anyway, just something to keep in mind. It’s tiny. It works great. But it’s pricey, and you’ll be buying tiny (and expensive) replacement ink cartridges often.” – by D. Stamatis
Fabulous little travel printer, | Rating:
“It’s VERY fast and even in “draft” mode it prints very well. It was easy to set up for my PC — even easier than the instructions indicated (I didn’t follow those, as they seemed out of date, and instead I simply plugged it in and the PC went through it’s plug and play steps and found the right driver).” – by Business Traveller
Canon Pixma Photo Inkjet Printer iP90 | Rating:
“I use for documents. Excellent. Looks like quality of laser printer. Compact and fits in my briefcase along with my laptop. Initially, I recommend extra Canon BCI 15 (black), and Canon BCI 16 (color) print cartridges as they are very small as well as expensive. Costco may have a variety of this cartridge that is cheaper. I have used for several weeks so I won’t comment on the long term performance of this printer.” – by Runde
Love it! | Rating:
“I am in love with the size of this printer. Not to mention it moves a lot faster than my outdated hp photosmart printer. The only problem is the ink tank is so small, you might have to replace often. I haven’t replaced mine yet, I’ve printed about 40 pages but others have said they have had to replace at 50 pages. Other than that, this little printer is a marvel and offers lots of options.” – by Mercedes Mendez
Great little printer! | Rating:
“This printer is so cool! I have the external battery and bluetooth adapter hooked up to it. My HP laptop recognizes the printer every time. Data transmission via the bluetooth is fast, and printing is suprisingly fast for a printer of this size. I purchased it mainly for printing out invoices and other documents on location, so I haven’t had a chance to do any color printing. The printer’s a bit pricey, especially when you add the extras, but for the compact size, I think it’s worth it!” – by JR

“As a person who travels considerable for both work and pleasure there are often times when I need a small light weight printer and the Canon iP90 more than fills the bill. Easy to setup and run it is also easy to load both cartiedges and gives EXCELLENT color and black print display. Also for pictures, both received and those downloaded from a camera this is an excellent printer. Highly recommended!” – by Robert F. Moyer
Road Warrior’s Opinion, | Rating:
“I travel 40 to 45 weeks a year and of the six portable printers that I have carried with me over the past 20+ years, this is my favorite. It is the fastest and has the sharpest print. The drivers loaded effortlessly. I have the bluetooth adapter and the battery pack. I use this printer with a Toshiba Satelite laptop and everything worked perfectly from the start..” – by Kenneth W. Douglass
Excellent Printer, | Rating:
“I bought this printer two years ago in Iraq. If that environment and travel didn’t hurt this printer, than nothing can. It has worked great ever since, and is really compact and prints wonderful pictures on photo paper. I would highly recommend this printer, and thanks go out to Amazon for shipping this to Iraq for me.” – by Patrick K. Miller

While most photo-editing software applications will brighten the entire image, Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 accurately detects the subject’s face and adjusts the skin to the optimum tone. Brighten dark faces caused by bright backgrounds. Choose from one-click automatic to correct the entire image all at once, or manual to correct just a selected area.
Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 also lets you select and print any image on your PC, perfectly trim images, correct images using lab-quality retouching features, correct red-eye, smooth facial lines and skin tone, sharpen faces, remove blemishes, and print in a variety of sizes and layouts.
Photo Optimizer PRO
Photo Optimizer PRO does not simply adjust image data; it also makes adjustments in the printer driver. It assesses color balance, vividness, and brightness based on a histogram analysis of image data (raw image), and then makes ideal adjustments within the three-dimensional color space of the entire image, also making optimum use of the image’s characteristics. Photo Optimizer PRO utilizes the functions of Bubble Jet printers to reproduce clear colors. Making multi-adjustments to a variety of images requires finetuning, because processes that are suitable for certain adjustments may be detrimental to other adjustments.
Also, each image requires a different balance of adjustments. For these reasons, Canon has spent many years accumulating enormous volumes of data on what it found are the colors considered by most people to be the most beautiful. Based on these data, Canon has undertaken analyses of a huge number of images and devised an algorithm that allows well-balanced adjustments to be made for every single image pattern, even those with complex compositions and hues.
Canon Smart Ink Features
If you’re on-the-go and low on ink the iP90 printer’s “Ink Usage Control” setting enables you to produce approximately 1.5 times more pages without lowering print quality. Plus, if you run out of black ink, just choose the “Use Composite Black” option and the iP90 printer continues to print black using a composite of color inks in the “Ink Usage Control” setting. These features are a convenient safety net when you don’t have extra ink on hand.
Versatile, Wireless Printing
The iP90 printer offers both IrDA compatibility and an optional Bluetooth interface enabling you to print wirelessly from a PC, PDA or mobile phone. For maximum portability, an optional Canon car adapter and rechargeable battery kit provide power on the go.
