Canon PIXMA iP4200 Reviews

MACworld reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4200 and writes;
“This printer did a great job with our standard Macworld Photoshop test image, even though it took more than 10 minutes at highest resolution to finish the job. The resulting prints were very good, with colors closely matching those in our control print, though the iP4200’s print was just a tad on the red side. The printer was able to reproduce fine details and did a good job on our graphics test with color gradients and curved lines. Text was clean and very legible, even at small point sizes when printed at the highest resolution available for plain paper.”

TopReviewShop reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4200 and writes;
“The printer has been used to print a number of text documents using the black ink, and I have found the results to be quite good. Printing in standard quality mode produces a clear and easily readable text document. The letters were a solid black color without any inconsistencies in the level of blackness. The letters did not exhibit any jaggedness or unevenness in their display. Using the printer in “draft” mode resulted in a lighter black color that appeared closer to a gray color. This will help save ink if you are printing something that does not need to look great, but it certainly makes it more difficult to read and I would recommend just leaving the quality at the standard setting.”

PCWorld reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4200 and writes;
“In our print quality tests, color photos exhibited sharp details, even in areas of shadow, with plenty of contrast. Skin tones, however, appeared a little too vivid and had an orange cast. Our grayscale photo printed a little on the dark side, but showed good contrast and sharp details overall; skin tones in this print could have looked smoother.”

CNET reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4200 and writes;
“The economy of four-color photo printing comes at a price. As expected, the Canon Pixma iP4200′s color gamut doesn’t equal that of printers with six or more primaries. It still produced good-looking, neutral colors with only a faint cyan tinge in some prints. However, despite the small droplets, we could readily see the ink clusters as multicolored speckles under 10X magnification. While the pigment-based text output looked good, up close it didn’t come near laser quality, showing a profusion of artifacts and jaggies in diagonal lines. Even vertical lines didn’t look as sharp as they should. Still, we thought that most bargain-hunting home users would find the photo and text quality very acceptable.”

Realy nice printer
“Easy setup, great borderless photo, surprisingly quick printing. I like the enclosed paper feed cartridge for plain paper. Time will tell if it will be like my Epson with fatally clogged heads, a problem with ALL ink jets after time. For right now, I am very happy with this printer. “ – by John

Pure great printing
“I installed this Canon IP4200 in less than 10 mintues and was up and printing flawless photos in 1 minute. The photos out of this printer are BETTER than the photo lab! This model has the best resolution (even better than some higher model Canon Pixmas), has a dual paper tray, output tray and is quiet. Even skip the other Canons with the card slots and useless little screen. The resolution on this is perfect. “ – by S. Sestak

canon ip4200 the best value for great looking photo prints
“I am a fine art photographer and I am amazed with what this very affordable printer can do. It is fast and makes amazing prints. The inks last and I have rarely had to clean the heads. Compared to similar Epson models this is faster, less fussy and has more affordable ink cartridges.” – by Nora Herting

Great Printer … Great Value
“I love this printer. The quality of the documents is outstanding and the quality of the photos is equal to a photo lab. While it is not the fastest printer I’ve ever seen it is fine … especially for the price! I have purchased a second so I have one at home and one in the office. Delivery was fast and the dealer stood by his product when my original printer had a damaged part initially.” – by Jonathan Frede

Much better than expected
“This is a wonderful printer. I bought it to print edible images (with special ink of course) and it really exceded my expectations. The images come out very sharp and very clear. They really have a photograph quality. I’d recommend it to every one looking for a Photo printer. The down side might be the price of the ink cartridges. But as I said before I use it with specialty cartridges so I can’t really comment about it. “ – by Soledad Aldana

Great buy! Beware about generic ink
“I bought this printer about half a year ago because I wanted to get a better photo printer than the hp I had. Photo prints are wonderful and I could not detect any grainyness to them. The printer has a duplexing option (that I love), auto-alignment, and a quiet mode that you can set for the times that you want. You can also set it so that the computer turns the printer on and off when it needs to rather than just leaving it on all the time. Having two paper trays is another useful feature.” – by Kevin

Fantastic Photos
“When I was shopping for a new printer last year. I looked at many brands for consumer evaluations. Canon got the highest rank over all and the price was within my budget. The photos are clear, clean and beautiful. The paper doesn’t take long to dry as with many printers and you only have to replace the cartridges individualy, nice when you only run out of one color. I also like the fact that when not in use you can close all trays, no dust build-up and things don’t get dropped inside. The availability to print quickly or quality and two paper trays that can be changed in an instant, just push a button. “ – by Carole Menard

Great printer, with solid customer service experience
“I have had this printer for about 2 years. It is a realy workhorse, printing lots of photos and text for myself and my wife. This thing does a great job with both. Also, despite what some reviewers on here say, the separate ink tanks have the potential to save you considerable amounts of money. Much better design than a single tank model. “ – by Zen Fox

An Older Model – But Still A Great Printer Nonetheless
“The quality of printing for both text and images is superb and as good as it gets. Text printed in all of the Print Quality modes (FAST, STANDARD or HIGH) are sharp and the print quality on FAST and STANDARD modes rival that produced by the best inkjet or laser printers. The quality of the photos printed are comparable to those from a photo lab (yes, they’re that good). “ – by Avid Reviewer

Why bother waiting for the photo lab when you can print images that are just as good–or maybe better–at home? The Canon PIXMA iP4200 combines five-color printing with a 1,856-nozzle print head capable of delivering superfine 1-picoliter ink droplets. The result is gorgeously clean, sharp prints delivered into your hands just minutes after you snapped the shot.

Color resolution is as high as 9,600 x 2,400 dpi, with black resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi. With the iP4200′s automatic two-sided printing, you can easily produce glossy brochures and invitations right from your desktop. Improved ink technology supplies rich black text that offers exceptional resistance to smudges–it even holds up to highlighter pens. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.)

With its straightforward USB port, connecting the printer with your computer is a snap; the iP4200 is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems and includes software tools like Easy-PhotoPrint (Windows/Mac), Easy WebPrint (Windows), and PhotoRecord (Windows).
