Canon PIXMA iP4000 Reviews
CNET reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4000 and writes;
“Text looks nice and dark at arm’s length, but close inspection by a trained eye reveals a lot of feathering around the edges of the letters. Still, the average consumer probably won’t notice the text blips and in fact might prefer the dark text, even if it means sacrificing some crispness.”
Pocket-lint reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4000 and writes;
“This good value printer should be popular with home users. It handles two everyday, essential print jobs – photos and documents – as well as being designed to fit snugly onto a bookshelf.”
PCMag reviews the Canon PIXMA iP4000 and writes;
“Output quality is better overall than for most ink jets. The photo rating is nearly excellent, held back only by a slight tint in our monochrome test photo and in one color photo. Text and graphics are both a bit better than good. More than half of the test fonts are easily readable at 4 points, although one stylized font is easily readable only at 12 points and larger.”
Canon PIXMA iP4000 User Reviews
“I have used this printer for a little over 6 months and have absolutely no complaints. I started out using the Canon inks, but have recently used generic ink tanks, with no change in print quality or printing problems. I use it in an office environment, and it gets used a lot. We are looking at replacing all our old HP and Epson printers with these since they are very affordable and the ink cartridges can be had for $3-5 each, versus the expensive HP tanks. “ – by Brian J. Fast and Crisp Photos
“I’m only using this printer for 4×6 photos, so I can’t comment on other sizes. The photos are lovely and it’s a very fast printer. I found it also prints nicely on generic glossy photo paper (heavy stock). I am not crazy about the photo software that comes with the printer, so I’m using Picasa2 (by Google) for my photo management and actual printing. For the price, you can’t beat this printer. “ – by S. Hindle
“This Printer is Great, I found it for around $[...] with rebates (which is a steal). Even at $[...] it’s a great deal. I bought this mainly for the option of printing directly on the CD / DVD’s. For this cool option, you need to mod it (press a few buttons), remove something small, and buy a tray (you can make one but I suggest buying one on ebay). I bought some printable dvd-r’s and printed on them – the quality is amazing! It almost looks as good as the actual dvd’s you buy in stores. I also printed & created some audio cd’s & they look great as well. The photo printing on 4×6 looks great. In black & white on 8.5×11 regular paper it looked decent (can see dots) but it’s amazing on glossy paper (can’t see dots at all). “ – by Paul Han
great overall product
“This is the first inkjet printer I’ve ever had that never needs me to babysit it; it never jams or has problems. I use it for all printing needs: documents, envelopes, not just images. It’s quiet and fast and the prints look great.” – by D. Finkelstein
“I bought the IP4000 for general printing and to make covers for my VHS collection that I have converted to DVD. The quality is second to none and in the process I learned how to make it print DVD’s also which is the best part. Had Epson R300 and it was either not working or out of ink and the cost was horrible for ink. I have found the IP4000 to be really good on ink and I also re-fill my own cartridges so the cost is really cheap.” – by D. Green
“I have had this printer for a month. While it is billed as a photo-printer, I have found it to be a great all-purpose printer as well. It does a great job on photos as to clarity and color reproduction. For general printing, I find it to be quiet, fast, and I think time will show it to be relatively inexpensive per page. I especially like the dual paper feeder feature that allows me to separately print photos from the top feeder while reserving the large reservoir of paper in the bottom bin for routine printing. It comes up to the high standards I have found for Canon products generally. “ – by H. Booth
“I have used this printer for over six months and have found no problems with it. Photo quality is outstanding. I had used HP printers for many years and got tired of changing the tri-color cartiages when only one color was empty. With the Canon you only replace the cartiage that is empty at a much lower price. The Canon cartiages use clear plastic so you actually see how much ink is remaining. “ – by R. C. Larsen
Absolutely great pictures
“I did a lot of research before buying this printer. Canon has some models that are much more expensive, and possibly better, but the Pixma 4000 does a magnificent job of printing 8X10 photographs. I have a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 722C beside the Canon, kept because I expected to use the HP for black and white standard letters. It is easy keeping the plain paper in the HP and the glossy photo paper in the Canon, but the Canon is so much faster that I am beginning to use it for almost everything.” – by Thornton Clark
“This is a great printer that I got for a great price. It looks beautiful, and prints beautiful pictures. It is a photo quality printer, it closes all up and has different paper tray options, which is nice, and it even does duplex printing. It seems to be pretty fast to me. I don’t even print all that much, but I’m glad I bought this printer. “ – by Roman

Canon PIXMA iP4000 Features
High speed, sharp resolution, and economical ink refills: Could you ask for more in a home printer? The Canon PIXMA ip4000 is designed with over 1,800 nozzles that produce tiny 2-picoliter droplets, resulting in finely detailed images that are worthy to save in your family album. Pigment-based inks insure colors will stay true, and the prints are resistant to water, fading, and smudges.
With resolutions up to 600 x 600 dpi black and 4,800 x 1,200 dpi color, your office documents or school reports will look as beautiful as your photos. Built-in two-sided printing reduces your paper costs and allows you truly professional design options. Top speeds of 25 ppm black and 17 ppm color (draft mode) will have your pages in hand in just a few seconds; a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo can take as little as 36 seconds–as fast as those old instant cameras, but with better quality. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.) Thanks to the PictBridge-compatible direct print port, you can connect your digital camera and churn out photos while bypassing your computer system.
The ip4000 is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems, and requires either a USB or parallel cable to get it up and running (cables not included). Canon provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.
