Canon PIXMA iP1700 Reviews

CNET reviews the Canon PIXMA iP1700 and writes;
“The colour graphics print showed smooth curves and colour blocks (no graininess) and excellent photo elements. We saw some banding in the colour gradients, and the colours were slightly washed out, but overall, we were impressed. The same goes for the photo prints. Again, the colours were somewhat washed out and didn’t ‘pop’, but the details were sharp and we didn’t see any graininess. For the price, the quality of the prints more than suffices.”

Expertreviews reviews the Canon PIXMA iP1700 and writes;
“The iP1700′s black ink tank helps it produce superior text to the iP1300. Even on its Fast quality setting, it printed characters with tidier outlines and bodies that look more solid and black. It was also quicker, producing crisp, draft-quality text at a decent rate. At its impressive Standard quality setting,”

PCWorld reviews the Canon PIXMA iP1700 and writes;
“Print quality was adequate. Text samples looked black and smooth despite feathery edges to some letters. Most color images looked natural, though some suffered from limited contrast and banding, even when printed on glossy photo paper.”

Canon Pixma IP1700
“The printer was easy to set up and get operating. It is a lot quieter and faster than the Epson model 820 that it’s replacing. The only short coming that I have found to date is that will not accept envelope templates for odd sized envelopes that I had set up for the Epson. Ink usage is better managed by the Canon than the Epson. Also, heads do not need to be cleaned as often.” – by J. Dougherty

Great photo printer for the price!
“It took me literally 5 minutes to get the printer set up. After inserting the software, and getting it installed on my computer, I was ready to go another 5 minutes later. I took two quick pictures, and attempted printing them out. It took me a minute to figure out how to insert the paper, but one I figured it out, the pictures printed quick and brilliant. I *did* notice where there were large areas of brown it looked a tad washed out, but it was minor. The pictures were very clear and colorful. “ – by E. Martinez

Canon PIXMA iP1700
“The simplicity and low price and small size are what attracted me to this printer. It has served well in a clinical application which requires mainly black ink. The color cartriage is wasted on this application. I do whish the printer had a larger black ink tank. 5cc gets used up in a hurry. But the cost is low for replacement cartridges. “ – by Keith L. Good Home Printer + Entry Level Photo Printer
“Print quality is very good even at draft quality settings. At high quality, the print is perfect for resumes. Print speed is execellent for a home printer. Photo quality is also good. Resolution is clear and colors are pretty accurate. I do not plan on using this much as a photo printer given the high cost of consummables and the abundance of inexpensive online photo printshops.” – by J. A. Chen

Great little printer for the price!!
“Once it arrived, it was a snap to setup. I just plugged it in, ran the set-up wizard (which was, thankfully, included) and I was ready to go. After the first test print, I knew I’d made a good choice. The color separation was superb, the saturation also excellent, and the color matching was pretty accurate too! What can I say? It’s a great printer!” – by J. Harper

Good starter photo printer
“I’ve owned a number of higher end consumer and low-end pro inkjet printers over the years. While I was a little skeptical of the quality that could be produced with a 4-color inkjet in times when there are 5 & 6 color printers, I was pleasantly surprised.. It’s quick and the color are good. It does surprisingly well on plain paper. Technologically, it’s at the cheap end of Canon’s new line of printers that use the FINE inks which are designed to give exceptionally long lifespans compared to the currently available inks.” – by G. Excellent value for the price
“My Epson died after only 1 year. Love this Canon. Pros: PRICE, PRICE, PRICE, ease of set-up and use, quite good print quality. Cons: printouts fall onto floor (no tray), print quality a little washed out (compensate by setting intensity higher, then looks excellent). I had no trouble locating inktanks, and they weren’t any more expensive than the ones for my Epson.” – by Carole Walsh

Best yet
“This little printer is oddly the best printer I’ve ever had. Mainly because it’s still working, it never fails to print. I’ve been using it steadily for three years and have yet to have a single issue with it. I’m no longer terrified about printing close to a deadline, or feeding the paper by hand, or jams. It just prints. And perfectly.” – by B. Moore

ChromaLife100 For Image Permanence
The iP1700 uses Canon’s ChromaLife100 system, including FINE print head technology, for eye-popping, high-quality photo printing. When you use select genuine Canon photo papers and inks, prints can resist fading for up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album. The 100-year-lifespan rivals that of many traditional film based photos, long considered by consumers to be the benchmark for image permanence. Prints produced on Canon Photo Paper Pro with ChromaLife100 inks also have an up to 10-year gas fastness when exposed to open air. In addition, ChromaLife100 prints, when created using Canon Photo Paper Pro or Photo Paper Plus Glossy, have up to 30-year light fastness when displayed under glass.

Launched globally by Canon in 1999, the Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) advanced print head technology is one of the keys to the impressive speed and high photo quality of the iP1700. FINE technology uses a ground-breaking high-performance, multi-nozzle print engine that ejects consistent and microscopic ink droplets. You can also take advantage of Canon’s software packages to help edit and customize your prints. Easy Photo Print 3.5 software makes it simple to enhance and print amazing digital photos through your computer while Easy Web Print software gives Windows users the tools to properly print Web pages in full color without trimming off the right hand margin. The results are high-resolution photos and documents with sharp detail and clarity in less time.
