Canon PIXMA iP1600 Reviews
PCWorld reviews the Canon PIXMA iP1600 and writes;
“On plain paper, our color images stood up reasonably well to the competition, despite suffering from some banding and over-saturated colors that gave faces the appearance of having a fake tan. Faint narrow banding remained on photo paper, and dark areas looked washed out, but we also saw some sharp detail. Our grayscale image showed appealing contrast and crisp edges, though skin tones could have been smoother.”
Canon PIXMA iP1600 User Reviews
Canon PIXMA iP 1600 printer review
“I didn’t purchase this for printing photos; cost and features drove the decision. The ink reservoirs are large, easy to insert. Quality of prints, both color and b&w, are as claimed. Photo quality prints are satisfactory. Unit is compact although not real small. Good value for the money.” – by gypsea
“This printer is great for the price. I bought it to be able to print clear color pictures. It takes up more room under my computer because the paper feeds from the top, and there’s no tray to catch the completed print, but I am happy with the ease of use and quality of print. “ – by L. Cluff
Low-cost printer with great print quality
“I debated between the MP500 and this printer, the PIXMA iP1600. However, I was skeptical of the print quaility. Can such a low-priced printer deliver sharp pictures and text? I didn’t believe it, so I went to my local electronics store and asked for some sample prints. The “high quality” black text print on regular paper was so sharp it looked like a laser printed document. A photo printed on glossy photo paper looked remarkable as well. The colors were beautiful and the pixellation was minimal.” – by Aikarin
Pixma iP1600: Great Printer, No Regrets
“I went to Best Buy with 50 bucks looking for an inexpensive printer to work with my ThinkPad. At first I was a bit skeptical because of the printer being at such a low price, but when I got it home and set it up, (uber-easy setup), it worked like a charm. Almost 10 times faster than my $150 Epson CX4600 All-In-One. A month later, I set it up on my network with a Netgear PS121 print server, and it works amazingly! Buying both color and black cartridges (genuine Canon) is cheaper than buying ONE HP color cartridge. Canon print-to-web software is great! “ – by Fred L. Ritvo
Eonomical – If You Refill
“I’ve had the Canon Pixma iP1600 Photo Printer for 3 months and have had no problems printing 5-10 pages (on average) daily of mixed color and black and white content. I can’t recall of it ever jamming, either, even when printing muti-page documents.. The print quality and speed are surprising for such an inexpensive 4 color printer. I also have a more expensive 6 color Canon S800 Photo Printer and the photo output quality of the iP1600 nearly rivals it!” – by David McCandless
Perfect for my needs
“I was looking for a basic printer for occasional printing. This printer was the right price ($30) and is pretty good quality. I’m not printing photos, but only word documents and internet pages. If you are looking for a basic printer for occasional printing this one will be a good buy. “ – by Thomas A. Staggs
excellent performance for the price
“We wanted a simple printer for documents. We already have a dedicated photo printer, so we won’t be using this printer for photos. This Canon was on sale, I think it was under $20 (hard to beat). It has performed beautifully. Quality looks fine, speed is OK. There is no output tray, so you have to position it on a flat surface with room for the output. I even had some small index cards that I wanted to print, I just loaded them up and it fed them perfectly. I can’t comment on ink price/usage; it seems like all printers these days have costly ink and use it up quickly. Obviously that is why they sell the hardware for such a low price. “ – by S. Browning
Great for the price
“We have had this printer (actually two of them) for several months now, and they perform well. The photo printing is good, but not the best, but it’s a fast b & w printer with good quality and replacement cartridges are reasonable. The main drawback is no output tray. These don’t get heavy use, so I can’t say they have been put to the test. “ – by G. Jones
“I stopped buying very expensive printers that I just use to print text and very few pictures. I have 2 dedicated photo (expensive) printers for that. This printer is great! I read the negative reviews and don’t understand what those people expected from this printer. It is fast, and my ink lasted a while. This is not a business printer. It is a low budget, but good printer for a home user. Don’t let the negative reviews fool ya, This printer is fine, the ink is cheap, and the printer does cost a lot.” – by J. Nichols

Canon PIXMA iP1600 Features
the Canon PIXMA iP1600 Photo Printer gives you beautiful photos and documents right at home. You’ll be amazed at the eye-catching, high-quality prints, simple operation, and customization options this compact machine delivers. Its stylish slanted design will also look great on any desktop. With the iP1600, Canon shows it has the printing of vivid and colorful images down to a science.
What’s the key to the iP1600′s impressive performance? Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses an innovative print head with 1,472 nozzles that eject consistent, precise ink droplets as small as two picoliters. It’s a simple formula: more nozzles with higher accuracy equal amazing results. This patented technology produces an outstanding color resolution of up to 4800 by 1200 color dots per inch (dpi), and 600 by 600 black dpi, for exceptional detail and photo-realism. At the same time, the Canon ChromaLife100 system, combined with the iP1600′s FINE print head technology, newly developed inks, and select Canon photo papers, yield long lasting photos that will retain their beauty up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album.
Sharp, Clear Photos and Graphics
To further enhance printing quality, the PIXMA iP1600 Photo Printer uses high-intensity ChromaLife100 color inks for sharp, clear photos and graphics. Plus, its special pigment black ink delivers laser-like text, as well as a higher resistance to smudging when you’re handling or highlighting a printed document. When it comes to speed, the iP1600 is equally impressive; it produces a 4 x 6 inch photo lab quality borderless photo in approximately 70 seconds. Print speeds range up to 19 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome and 16 ppm for color. This machine is also versatile, and lets you print on a wide range of materials. Rather than limiting you to just standard photo-sized paper, the iP1600 can handle sizes from credit card to legal size, plus envelopes, in a wide variety of weights and finishes.
Canon Software Makes Customization Easy
The iP1600 comes with software to help you customize your prints so you get the exact results you want. Easy-WebPrint software enables Windows users to properly print web pages in full color and without losing information off the right edge. For added convenience, Easy-PhotoPrint version 3.3 software delivers professional looking digital photos in 4 x 6 inch, 5 x 7 inch and 8.5 x 11, perfect sizes for framing and sending to family and friends. Together, these Canon applications give you the high-quality results you expect without having to worry about complicated or confusing instructions. With the iP1600 it’s always a snap to produce brilliant, edge-to-edge borderless photos.
Compatability and Connectivity
The iP1600 is designed to integrate seamlessly with your current network. With its straightforward USB port, connecting the printer to your computer is quick and easy; the iP1600 is also compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
