Canon PIXMA iP1500 Reviews
PCWorld reviews the Canon PIXMA iP1500 and writes;
“Text looked more than respectable, even at small font sizes. Though we could see some slight, narrow banding on plain-paper graphics, they had very good color and contrast. On photo paper, our color and monochrome images showed a slight magenta cast, but they generally looked nice and sharp, with only a few dithering artifacts.”
PCMag reviews the Canon PIXMA iP1500 and writes;
“Output quality is another strong point. The rating for photos is just short of excellent, with most photos in our test qualifying as true photo quality, but with a minor tint on our monochrome test photo. Text printing rates as good, with more than half the test fonts easily readable at 4 points, but some stylized fonts needing 12 points for easy readability. Graphics were marred by slight banding in default mode, but still rank as just short of very good.”
Canon PIXMA iP1500 User Reviews
“I got this as a cheap backup to my older printer. I’m very pleased with this Canon. Set up from the box was super easy. Prints with great quality, a little noisy, but not bad. Ink cartridges are inexpensive and easy to find for this printer. I gave it four stars since it doesn’t have a tray to catch your print outs and drops them on the floor instead. Overall, a very good printer. “ – by Bogda
Great for the kids to use. Very affordable ink replacement
“The ink is dirt cheap. I was surprised at how many pages it can print before the ink tanks need replacement. My kids just print and print. Compact size for small desk. The photo print quality is great as well. I have used it over my epson just for the fact the epson ink is over $30 per tank. Mind you it has no paper tray, it is noisy and slow.” – by SmartMedia Card Repair
“Have been using this printer for the past 6 months. Absolutely no problems. I should admit that i have *not* printed photos with this, but i know the cartridges for this model are cheap. Prints fast, good quality print.I use this often and did not have any paper jams. A good product for the price.” – by Sankar L
Not bad for a $50 printer
“it’s been quite handy to print last minute pictures for scrapbooking (when printing in bulk I use Snapfish). The pictures have been bright, clear, and scrapbook quality. For free, I really can’t complain.” – by Kimberly A. McKinnis
Canon Pixma iP1500
“This is a great printer at any price. The print quality is good and you can even print photos if you want. The ink cartridges are inexpensive, especially if you go with remanufactured, and overall, the printer is a great value. The only bad part is that the printer does not have an output tray, but don’t let that stop you from buying this printer because it is truly a great value. “ – by Ralph DiGiacomo
Better than expected
“I don’t have any special needs, and for what I use it: letters, ocasional photos the machine is great. Ink is very affordable witch is a biiig plus in my books. Set up is a breeze for Windows, for Mac U must download the drivers, but than is smooth sailing. “ – by johnf849
Couldn’t be any better
“I am using this lovely printer for about two months. It has given everything you would expect from a printer despite its affordable price so far. Color printing is almost lab quality. Quite fast, easy to handle and maintain. Rest assured, relatively cheaper cartridges won’t be pain in the back unlike other ‘expensive’ printers.” – by Sinan Altinok
4 stars for a $50 printer
“I replaced my Epson RX500 ($245.00) due to $$$ ink replacement and other issues, and I love this little printer! After almost five months of steady printing I’m replacing the black ink tank for the first time (about $7). It’s a little rough on the paper feed but cranks documents out quickly. Photo quality is average for the price of this unit. However, compared to the enormous costs of the Epson ink tanks, this Canon has already paid for itself. I’ve printed out resumes, pictures, spreadsheets, and loads of emails on this machine. Well worth the price!” – by S. Shinkle
SEEMS TO WORK PRETTY GOOD
“I bought this printer based on the reviews given below. I was trying to find a printer that was good quality and used lower cost ink cartridges. So it has been pretty good. I have used it since july of 2005 and it has performed well. Ink cartridges are much cheaper than my former HP photosmart printer p1000 i think that’s what it was called.” – by gary green
Canon PIXMA iP1500 Brochure & User Guide
Canon PIXMA iP1500 Features
The Canon PIXMA ip1500 is designed with over 1,000 nozzles that produce tiny 2-picoliter droplets, resulting in finely detailed images that are worthy of saving in your family album. Pigment-based inks insure colors will stay true, and the prints are resistant to water, fading, and smudges.
With resolutions up to 600 x 600 dpi black and 4,800 x 1,200 dpi color, your office documents or school reports will look as beautiful as your photos. Top speeds of 18 ppm black and 13 ppm color (draft mode) will have your pages in hand in just a few seconds; a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo can take as little as 58 seconds–quick enough to hand out party photos as your guests walk out the door. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.)
While most photo-editing software applications will brighten the entire image, Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 accurately detects the subject’s face and adjusts the skin to the optimum tone. Brighten dark faces caused by bright backgrounds. Choose from one-click automatic to correct the entire image all at once, or manual to correct just a selected area.
Easy-PhotoPrint 3.0 also lets you select and print any image on your PC, perfectly trim images, correct images using lab-quality retouching features, correct red-eye, smooth facial lines and skin tone, sharpen faces, remove blemishes, and print in a variety of sizes and layouts.
Exif Print Technology

The ip1500 is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems, and requires only a USB cable to get it up and running (cable not included). With a depth of just over 8 inches, you can tuck this little powerhouse just about anywhere–even in your dorm room. Canon provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.
