Canon i950 Reviews

Shutterbug reviews the Canon i950 and writes;
“When printing from an image file of high quality, the i950 can make color prints with incredible resolution and sharpness, and rich, gorgeous colors that assure very high visual impact. The prints should satisfy demanding photographers, even those who occasionally exhibit or sell their work. .”

PCWorld reviews the Canon i950 and writes;
“The i950 printed glossy photos with fine detail and accurate colors. Gradients and transitions, however, had minor banding. Gray-scale images came close to matching traditional film photos, but they were slightly marred by minor color streaks and had a slightly yellowish cast. We were unimpressed by the i950′s text quality on plain paper, too:

Pcmag reviews the Canon i950 and writes;
“Output quality is good to excellent. In addition to true photo quality on photo paper, the i950 prints photos at near photo quality on plain paper and produces good to excellent color graphics. ..In default mode on plain paper, an 8-by-12 photo took 51 seconds. Text speed was less impressive, at 2 pages per minute, but slow text speeds are par for the course with printers that are optimized for photos.”

CNET reviews the Canon i950 and writes;
“Its photos, on the other hand, come out exceptionally sharp and smooth, with no banding, thanks to the tiny 2-picoliter droplets. The colors are definitely pleasing, though the color matching requires some tweaking, either in your retouching software or the printer driver. Overall, the colors err slightly to the yellow. You’ll get the best results with files that originate in the sRGB colorspace. It does a pretty good job of matching the colors across various paper types, however.”

A Great Photo Printer
“I bought this printer to use with a Canon A50 5-megapixel camera. In a nutshell, it is easy to set up, easy to use, fast (4×6 print in about 30 seconds) and, most important, makes prints indistinguishable from film. Being new to digital photography, I can’t tell you what a weird and wonderful feeling it is to have film quality prints pop out of a printer on your desk, but there it is. You won’t be disappointed. “ – by Brad S. Shumel

Just one word – WOW
“I studied the demo photos over and over again before finally deciding to go for the i950 – boy am I glad I did! Everything you read about how great the photos look is absolutely true. I was a little concerned about how text printing would appear on plain paper, but it’s really not bad at all (maybe the HP7550 is a little better here). But when it comes to photos – all I can is I was totally impressed, and I’m not that easy to please!” – by C. Fernandes

Stunning pictures
“I was a bit skeptical about home photo printers, but the Canon i950 won me over. I’ve been using it for 2 months now, and I’m still amazed at the quality of the pictures. I consistently get crisp, clear pictures with beautiful color. The printer is easy to set up. Buy the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy for best results.” – by A Customer

Amazing photo printer, excellent for text, too
“An outstanding printer. Photos on this printer are indistiguishable from normal film finishing. Printer is fast, quiet, moderately inexpensive to run. Paper handling is good; never have had a jam. A special bonus: text quality is excellent, letters are crisp and well-defined.” – by Mr. Joe

Best photo printer I’ve owned
“I was amazed at how fast it came out – the box said 37 seconds for a 4×6 and that seemed about right. This was the first time I’ve owned a printer that actually printed as fast as the box claimed. The best part was looking at the photo. As many of you have said, it looks like it came from a photo lab. I looked as close as I could under a bright light and I could not see any dots, and the colors were great, probably due to the six different inks.” – by A Customer

Exceeded A Newbie-Perfectionist’s Expectations
“I consider myself very tech-savy, but I’ve always hated printers. Well, this was the first PHOTO printer I’ve purchased, and I’m more than happy. I did all the research and homework and this was hands down the winner based on the data out there. My experience has been awesome. I am kind of a skeptic when I read all the data, but this printer really has exceeded my expectations. Easy to install and print pictures. And I’m really impressed at the quality! “ – by A Customer

Love it so much I’m buying a second one
“This printer exceeded all my expectations. Definite plug and play – super easy with MAC OS 10 as well as system 9. Print photos, text, layouts, everything. I use iphoto, photoshop, quark xpress, powerpoint, etc. Colors are very true – both to PMS and in photos. Easy to calibrate. Love the individual ink tanks – have gotten surprisingly good prices for supplies from Canon and BJ’s. Have at the office, now buying for my home.” – by A Customer

Five stars for improvement over prior generations
“Okay, my turn. First I think this is a fabulous deal: the pictures, the quality, the basic economy on the ink, the build quality, the quiet operation, all are great — unmatched & just a huge improvement over prior generations (I’ve owned a couple of Canon’s and a couple of epsons color inkjets going back 6 years and basically gave up on color printing as not-ready-for-prime-time. This printer is definitely ready for prime-time.)” – by John Meghly

A very good printer
“I have found the i950 to be a very good printer. It is fast, quite and produces beautiful prints. I especially like the individual ink tanks which are clear (so you can see that they really are empty) and they do not contain a “killer” chip which would prevent you from refilling them if you wanted to. Certainly a step up from my previous Epson which constantly had clogged nozzles.” – by Roy

i950 4 years of fantasic photos
“This printer nearly equals even the most recent PIXMA printers iP6700. Silent, fast and color accurate, PERIOD! Extremly satisfied! The only suggestion for those using this printer is to print in bulk. After 4 years the waste ink tray filled up and was pooling on the print head. The ink was leaching back into the yellow tank(became almost black). In fact all colors were affected, but yellow was the easiest to identify. The reds printed out black, colors were simply horrible for the first 4-6 prints, the longer the printer wasn’t used the more prints had to printed to clean the head.” – by Kurt

You get great photos out of it, eats ink for lunch AND breakfast
“There’s nothing fancy or special about it. It simply prints great photos for as long as you are using the recommended Canon photo paper, the better the paper’s quality, the better the pictures come out. The output is a bit slow but, for as long as you dedicate it to photos printing only, and you should, speed does not matter much. The quality does matter and, to me, it’s almost indistinguishable from what you would get out of your average Walmart photo lab.” – by A. Dent
