Canon i900D Reviews

Bobatkins reviews the Canon i900D and writes;
“it’s pretty much all good. The printer produces excellent color prints on super glossy, glossy and matte paper. Getting absolutely neutral B&W prints is a bit more difficult, but that’s true for any multicolor ink printer. With a little work or toning I was also very happy with monochrome prints.”

Photo.net reviews the Canon i900D and writes;
“I really liked this printer. For me, I’d probably chose the very similar i960 because I don’t need another memory card reader (I already have three) and I doubt I’d ever need to print directly from a memory card, however for those who do need these functions, they both work well and it does save yet another USB device and cable. The i900D is an excellent printer capable of real photographic quality prints. I’d have no hesitation recommending it to anyone who needs an inexpensive printer for home use, yet wants true photographic quality prints.”

CNET reviews the Canon i900D and writes;
“the i900D’s print quality is very good. Our test photos, printed out via default settings only, were extremely detailed, sharp, clear, and colorful. Our only complaint is that the i900D has a tendency to overaccentuate the yellow end of the color spectrum.”

Greatest Printer Yet
“I just upgraded from an HP 970 Cxi and couldn’t be happier. My i900D makes top quality prints on Canon Glossy Photo Pro and Ilford Classic Glossy papers – better than the digital film processors I used. And, its ink is much cheaper than the HP’s. And, it has a built in card reader that can be used by the PC and to print picures. And, it includes an LCD for printer status and picture preview (so so quality for picures). And it integrates very well with the great bundled software. And it includes a dedicated 4×6 feeder. And there was a…rebate when I bought it with my Canon S400.” – by J. Cihak

Really nice photo printer
“This is my first photo printer and I couldn’t be happier. The clarity and quality of the pictures is great. Just make sure you only use Canon photo paper with this printer. I originally used kodak premium photo paper and the quality of the photo prints was awful. “ – by A Customer

Proof you don’t have to spend a lot of $$
“Print quality … amazing! I wrote a review about my Epson 960 when I got it about how great the pictures were (when I got it to print right) and I never thought it could get better. Well I printed out a few images from the same CF card and the Canon images came out even better. More contrast, richer colors, and much less “noise” even on lesser quality images. I even printed out 5 of these images on one of those new Kodak kiosks they have at a lot of retail chains now. Not really a fair comparison considering the paper and dye based ink they use but I have to honestly say, the Canon images were absolutely identical to the ones I printed on the kiosk. “ – by A Customer

Excellent printer (and it prints 5×7 borderless!)
“i900D photo print quality is excellent from my 5.1 megapix camera (have not tried older 3.1 pictures). The b&w and sepia prints were nothing short of amazing. I found it close to impossible to tell that they were not professional photos. The install was a breeze. I was printing directly from my Sony Memory Stick Duo (if you have a duo card, make sure you have an adapter) even while the driver/software install was going on. The Easy Print software that came with it is excellent for simply printing your photos.” – by A Customer

Outstanding Product
“I have used my new Cannon i960 for 60 days and I am very happy with the product. I have printed over 75 4X6 and 12 8X10 prints and have been completely satisfied with the product when using Cannon glossy paper. When I have used paper from a competitor there is a marked difference. When I show my prints to my friends they cannot believe that the pictures came from a printer. Photo lab quality. “ – by A Customer

Awesome Printer for a Great Price
“I purchased the i900D a couple weeks ago and I am amazed at how nice the pictures are that come out of this printer. I purchased the i900D and the Canon A80 digital camera at the same time and they are a perfect pair. I own a midlevel Canon film camera that has produced excellent pictures for years so I really wanted to see how the A80 compaired to that. I went around the house and the neighborhood and took pictures with both my film camera and my A80.” – by Allen Small

Professional quality photo prints
“I did tons of research on highest rated photo printers and agree that this printer is on par with professional photo lab prints. I chose this one over the HP 7960 because of the warmth and richness of photos and individual ink tanks (a money saver). Also, there were other reviewers selecting the Canon over the HP. This printer was also recommended as a “quick pick” by Consumer Reports magazine. I look forward to going from the Canon Photo Paper Pro to the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy for even prettier pictures (so I am told by lab techs who claim high gloss produces best results). I am extremely pleased now, and can’t wait to try out an even better photo paper by Canon on this printer.” – by H. Kuerner

Excellent Printer Excellent Service
“I purchased the i900D through Amazon. In terms of printing, it was flawless. Very pleased with the photos, speed, dB, software, the whole nine yards! However after about a week the LCD screen on the printer developed a solid black line down the middle of it. I contacted Canon Support and within 72 hours another i900D was delivered to my home. In addition they provided all the necessary pre-paid labels to return the defective one. All I needed to do was to call the carrier for home pickup. It could not have been easier. “ – by J. Lovering

Excellent printer… ink is a pain though
“Photos printed on this printer are outstandingly crisp, with beautiful color. Quality photo paper produces prints that are indistinguishable from “real” photos. Printing is fast and the provided software lets you organize prints on any size paper easily and efficiently. Way to go Canon! “ – by Addison Phillips
