Canon EOS M Reviews

Techradar reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“On the whole the Canon EOS M impresses. It’s a nice, solid-feeling camera that offers plenty of control to the enthusiast, without daunting its more novice target market.”

Photographyblog reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“In conclusion it is the picture quality that counts however, and we were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the output from the EOS M.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Cameralabs reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“Like the T4i / 650D, the EOS M has built in lens aberration correction, by default (and used here) Peripheral illumination correction (vignetting) is enabled and Chromatic aberration correction is disabled. Moving on to the fourth and final crop from the edge of the frame, this is nice and sharp with plenty of fine detail, the balcony dividers are crisply defined and you can make out some detail in the roof tiles and brickwork at the bottom of the crop.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Popcultureonline reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“the EOS M is definitely not aimed at the enthusiast mirrorless market, it is still a very decent camera. Sure the autofocus is nowhere close to the likes of the Panasonic GH3, the Olympus OMD-EM5 or its EOS DSLR brothers, it more than makes up for it with good image quality.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Petapixel reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“The Canon EOS M is a camera that falls one big step short of being a fantastic mirrorless camera. If only it had an autofocus system as solid as its other specs and attributes, it’d be a camera that we’d recommend in a heartbeat to both serious photographers and casual consumers.”
rating: N/A

Cameralabs reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“As a first-generation model the EOS M is inevitably a little rough around the edges and lacking some features enthusiasts hoped for, but equally it delivers what many others have been wanting for ages: a small body with DSLR quality and EF lens compatibility.”
rating: N/A

PCWorld reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“The EOS M can be taken to any type of event or gathering and provide much better overall image quality and flexibility than a regular compact camera. It can even be the second body in a photographer’s camera bag thanks to its ability to use such a wide range of existing lenses via the adapter. The camera has an ISO range of 100-12800, Full HD movie recording and a speed rating of up 4.3 frames per second.”

Digitalcamerainfo reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“In our time with the camera we found it compared equally with the T4i in terms of speed. Its contrast AF was accurate and fairly snappy in a dimly lit conference room, and it had more success with low-contrast subjects in the center of the frame, as you’d expect.”
rating: N/A

Engadget reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“The EOS M feels quite nice in hand, with a smooth, but solid, finish on the black model and a glossy, reflective magnesium alloy coating on the white version. The display is sharp and vibrant, and the touch functionality is accurate and responsive..”
rating: N/A

CNET reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“In terms of video performance, colors in our samples looked pleasingly saturated and contrasty. The camera’s autofocusing speed in video capture is similar when shooting stills. The ILC takes about 1 second to acquire a focus and locks on with a half-press of a button.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Trustedreviews reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“Noise is very well controlled too. From the baseline sensitivity of ISO 100 up to ISO 800 images are pretty much noise free. Above ISO 800 and image noise does become progressively more noticeable. ISO 6400 is just about acceptable, although colour noise does see the image deteriorate quite a bit.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Photoreview reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“The adapter allows the EOS M to be seen as a potential back-up body for DSLR users at all levels of expertise because you get all the controls and functions you need (along with a lot you don’t) in a very compact package. The small size of the camera and adapter mean they occupy very little space in a camera bag and their relatively light weight will make them ideal for bushwalkers who need to limit their loads.”
rating: N/A

Imaging-resource reviews the Canon EOS M and writes;
“The Canon EOS M looks to offer a fairly comprehensive video mode, by compact system camera standards. Resolution choices vary from Full HD to standard-def, recorded using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression and a .MOV container. “
