Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Reviews

PCMAG reviews the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and writes;
“I used Imatest to check the sharpness and distortion characteristics of the lens when paired with the EOS Rebel T4i $559.99 at 42nd Street Photo. At 18mm f/3.5 it records an excellent 1,956 lines per picture height, which increases to 2,238 lines at f/5.6.”

SLRGear reviews the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and writes;
“CA is noticeable as magenta-green fringing on edges of high-contrast areas, at wide and telephoto focal lengths: in the mid-range, between 35mm and 50mm, chromatic aberration is quite well-controlled.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Kenrockwell reviews the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and writes;
“Autofocus is silent and super-fast. The lens’ motor is completely silent, much quieter than the 40mm f/2.8 STM… As seen on an 18MP Canon T4i, it’s reasonably sharp when used properly. It’s sharp in the center where it matters, and I’d have no problem cranking out eye-popping work with this lens.”

Photoreview reviews the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and writes;
“Backlit subjects were handled very well, with very little loss of contrast due to veiling flare. Bokeh was also quite attractive in close-up shots at maximum aperture – although not outstandingly beautiful.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Photozone reviews the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and writes;
“The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM IS is a pretty obvious choice for those users seeking for a long universal range while keeping a very decent image quality. The new optical design with a large diameter UD element in the front lens group obviously makes a difference compared to its predecessor. The lens is generally capable of keeping a very high center to corner resolution.”

Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM User Reviews

This is THE video lens for the Canon Rebel T4i/650D
“Now, there are certainly better Canon lenses for still photography–this isn’t even an “L” series lens–but for video work on the T4i, it’s hard to beat. It is also both quicker to focus and quieter than the other STM lens currently on the market, the 40mm STM pancake. (I can barely hear the 40mm focus, but the 18-135mm really is next to silent.)” – By R. T. Watkins

This lens is really going to spoil you
“this lens has exceeded my expectations in every way. I think this lens is a bargain in the $400-$500 price range (although the MSRP is $549.00). With the optics, build quality, and performance I believe it is probably the best value for a lens with it’s focus range.” – By D Taylor
