Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM Reviews
Lenstip reviews the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM and writes;
“The autofocus works silently quickly and very accurately (less than 1% of misses in studio conditions), without any tendency to front or back focus… In the frame centre zoom lenses can be as good as primes but usually they lose the duel at the frame edge.”

SLRLensreview reviews the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM and writes;
” The lens performance around borders on a full frame 5D was outright miserable – wide open or stopped down, borders were basically iffy throughout the entire tested aperture range. Image quality in the center was the only bright spot here – at f/2.8 center was reasonably sharp and quality improves once you stop down, reaching a respectable level by f/5.6.”

Photozone reviews the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM and writes;
“Most good quality zooms can match its quality by now. The fix focal lens can still convince regarding distortions and CAs. Resolution-wise it is still a good to very good lens for sure – just not more than that. “

Ephotozine reviews the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM and writes;
“Chromatic aberration, although not a concern as it managed to stay below the threshold where it may become noticeable, did show a little anomaly, in that the figures were worse in the vertical plane when the lens was set to wider apertures. This is on measured test results and cannot be seen with the naked eye! “

The-digital-picture reviews the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM and writes;
“The Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM Lens autofocuses quickly and quietly. Another good point. although the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM Lens was not as sharp as my Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM Lens, it showed decent center sharpness. At f/2.8, the 20 was slightly soft. At f/3.2 and beyond, center sharpness was good.”

Canon EF 20mm f/2.8 USM User Reviews
could be sharper on full-frame | Rating:

“I’ve used this lens both on 1.6x crop (Digital Rebel XT) and full frame (5D and EOS 3) cameras. On the 1.6x crop, the 20mm focal length looks like 32mm. I personally find that to be a wonderful focal length for general purpose use, and the f2.8 is acceptably fast for some indoor / low-light situations. On full-frame, the lens is amazingly wide, and can be challenging to frame an interesting picture. “ – by Trevis Rothwell
It’s better than it’s made out to be!, | Rating:

“there is more going for this lens than sharpness. Distortions are VERY low for a lens of this focal length. You are NOT going to get anything nearly as good from a zoom. Also, color saturation and contrast are EXCELLENT – FAR better than, say, an EF-S 17-85mm lens. Colors REALLY come alive with this lens compared to most zooms.” – by Matt
Highly recommended | Rating:

“I shoot both film and digital images with this lens. This lens is on my camera 80% of the time. It is a very fast and solid lens. I have not found any zoom that can compete. I love it. “ – by John Howard
Excellent lens | Rating:

“I hella enjoy using this lens, its always hooked on my Canon 40d. One of Canons cheap wide lens. Excellent made, perfect. “ – by J. labrador
sharp wide-angle lens for cropped sensors | Rating:

“I have taken some very nice shots with this hand-held indoors and outside. The first time I took a stopped-down shot indoors on a tripod, I was really impressed. Because of the crop factor and depth of field, it’s eye-popping sharp all over with great color saturation. It costs a good amount, but it’s one of the most useful lenses I have.” – by Mark Cassidy
Great, versitile lens, | Rating:

“I was a bit concerned at first with the fixed focal length, but it has proven to be very versatile. It takes very sharp pictures, even when fully opened in low light. I have not noticed any of the vignetting that other users have mentioned. great wide angle lens for the price. Useful for landscapes and tight space, low light situations.” – by John Koehn
Great Lens for low light and fast | Rating:

“I use this on my 40D, was not impressed with the previous reviews but needed a 20mm so went ahead and pushed the button. Picture quality was stunning at the amazingly low lights and the lens was super fast. excellent built quality. A great buy for an ultra wide angle. “ – by Risch
