Canon Powershot E1 Reviews

ImagingResource reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“The Canon E1′s 4x optical zoom lens produced good quality images as well, with low distortion and only minimal blurring in the corners. Styling is more for the younger shooter, resembling a Hello Kitty product, but there’s no denying that the Canon E1 captures very good images, so it’s a clear Dave’s Pick.”

NeoCamera reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“the E1 excels with its ergonomics and simplicity. Its average performance is remarkably consistent, with reliable exposure and focus under all but very low-light. Add to that an intuitive user-interface and the results are an easy to use first-time camera for beginners.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

DPInterface reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“The E1 deserves my recommendation for being a capable point-and-shoot camera which manages to balance price, style, features and image quality.”
Rating: N/A

GoodGearGuide reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“The Canon PowerShot E1 is an impressive entry-level compact camera aimed primarily at kids and skint teens. It offers a nice array of features for the asking price and takes adequate photos to boot. All in all, a solid offering.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

PhotoReview.au reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“Close-up shots were competently handled, although the test camera often had difficulties finding focus on subjects between three and 10 centimetres from the lens. However, backlit subjects presented few problems and we found no evidence of flare or ghosting unless the sun was shining directly into the lens.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Pocket-Lint reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“We are left wishing they’d make a black version because it’s a simple and affordable camera, which gives you some great results. Canon have been criticised in the past for not being good value for money, but the E1 bucks that trend”
Rating: ★★★★☆

DCR reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“the camera performs admirably at its lowest ISO settings. Even ISO 200 is relatively clean, though some pixel-level details begin to lose their edge, and solid patches can get extremely noisy in a hurry if you up the saturation…”
Rating: N/A

PhotographyBlog reviews the Canon Powershot E1 and writes;
“Image quality on the Canon Powershot E1 is a mixed bag. The photos have good resolution, but fine detail in subjects like foliage shows signs of smearing, possibly due to some noise reduction going on even at low ISO settings.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

User Opinions

Canon Powershot E1 User Reviews

Good camera for a point and shoot | Rating: ★★★★☆
“I like the fact that the camera uses AA batteries. That’s one of the reasons I bought it. I own another Canon camera that takes really good pictures but I wanted one that I could slip into my purse. The camera takes good outside pictures. I did have some trouble taking inside pictures in low light. Also automatic focus was difficult. I was trying to take pictures at a fashion show in Vegas and the flashing lights behind the models and low light everywhere else caused problems that I wouldn’t have had with my better Canon. But overall a good camera for everyday use…” – by Debbie

Little camera, a lot of value | Rating: ★★★★★
“I bought an E1 for myself earlier this year and absolutely love it. The portability, solid construction, fast power up, quality of shots, ease of use, and the ability to shoot video as well as stills made this model an excellent choice as a college graduation gift for my niece….” – by Tracey
