I love my 50D but Im already itching for a 7D for the video. I use my 50D for my aerial photography business, www.gunnphotoservices.com where I attach it to an rc helicopter. Even usi9ng the kit lens from a rebel XTi, I get very high quality shots.

Canon EOS 50D is a fine camera. I used a 450D for one year and tried to exploit all of its options. So, utilizing the 50D's features didn't require that long albeit, it might for a beginner. I got it 2 weeks ago and I'm happy with it. As a nature shooter, the advantages I get are faster frame rate, higher shutter speed and ISO.

There are some fuss about its high ISO noise. Is there a camera out there that doesn't produce any noise at high ISOs say from 800 and above? There isn't. Therefore, let's live with the reality that noise will be there and dedicated noise reduction softwares take care of that problem nicely. Particularly noises at 1600 and 3200 are easily manageable with those tools following which images look quite presentable. Extreme situations are rare and do not qualify for regular discussion.
