Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) has announced a video contest with theme “This is My WPPI” in Hollywood, CA (December 27, 2011). The contest is open to seasoned professional photographers and amateur photographers who just beginning their photography career. WPPI is looking for the best video clip that has time of 30-seconds that creatively expressing what makes it to be “your WPPI”. The photographers are suggested to submit their “This is My WPPI” video that the most imaginative, original and memorable. The photographer that out as the winner will win a trip to attend WPPI 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. The contest is open to entries until Monday, January 9, 2012 (at 11:59 p.m. PT). January 6th, 2012. Nikon will have a press conference with slogan “The image you are waiting for” in Nikon’s headquarters in Thailand. On this press conference, Nikon will announce the D4 and a new AF-S 85mm f/1.8G lens. It will be interest event from Nikon with their new products that have been ready to compete in the world of photography. There is also a chance that some of the other upcoming Nikon products such as Nikon D800 and Nikon WT-5 wireless transmitter might be announced for the 2012 PMA show.

Profoto has launched the new Umbrella XL. It is a new photography lighting and Light Shaping Tools which consists of three versions, they are white, silver and translucent. The new Profoto Umbrella XL allows photographers to change the light distribution by simply sliding the umbrella shaft inside the flash head by offers a diameter of 65-inch with a slightly parabolic shape.
