Canon PowerShot SD30 – Review @ Photoxels

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

Photoxels has recently posted their review on Canon PowerShot SD30 Digital ELPH, a 5.0 Megapixels (CMOS) point-and-shoot digital camera with a 2.4x optical zoom and 1.8″ LCD Screen

“The Canon PowerShot SD30 Digital ELPH is ultra compact and fashionable. It’s built solid, looks elegant and the different textures give this camera a nice tactile feel. It can easily be carried in a jeans pocket and small fashion handbag. Startup and shot to shot time is fast at just above 1 sec., and there is no practical shutter lag. Autofocus is fast and precise.

We find the overall image quality of the Canon PowerShot SD30 to be good to very good, with highlights tending to be blown, and excellent flash portraits.”

Photographers’ Rights in the US, the UK and Australia

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

We have all seen the scene of the photographer being surrounded by the heavies, the camera being confiscated and the film being thrown on the ground. Makes for great dramatic footage but in most jurisdictions such behaviour is illegal unless accompanied with a court order.

Essentially if you are in a public place, you can shoot away to your heart’s content. Even in the paranoia of post 9/11 and officers from security forces both private and government saying otherwise. But do use some commonsense, taking pics of military installations is just dumb as with any other sensitive government building.
